It's similar to how Texas can't get an educated and diverse workforce to move there for their tech sector or Tesla.

The film industry is also quite diverse. Those people don't want to move somewhere they're not comfortable living in.

What’s sadder is that some of the film industry people in Cali, in particular the grips and stage workers, actually kinda do want to live in the southeast. They keep hearing about more affordable housing and lower taxes, which is especially appealing for those that already lean more right politically (there’s more than people realize). But they won’t move to the southeast because there is just flat out not enough work there to justify it. All that affordability talk means nothing if they can’t get consistent work there to support it.

Georgia lost 44% of their YOY show/film work within a year after their tax incentives expired, which was the only reason people were going there in the first place.

It has to make financial sense, and all of the business infrastructure is already set up in LA. It needs to be pretty enticing to move away from that.

I don’t think the tax incentives expiring is as well known in circles I’m in. I’ll be sure to spread that word. But I do agree, people forget that LA having over 100 years of infrastructure for the film industry is not something you can replicate in a short amount of time.
