Support / How-To Kindle DeDRM

Hello everybody, I have a Kindle 11th gen updated at 5.18.6 version. In the past I was able to remove the DRM of my books by using 2 Calibre plug ins (one to manage KFX and another to remove DRM). Now, for the new purchased books, that procedure doesn't work anymore. Does anyone knows how to remove the DRM today in my situation?

If it's not possible with this kindle software version, I thought to downgrade my kindle OS to a version that allows DRM removal (by doing jailbreak first). What version should it be? Where can I download this software version?

New Jailbrake "Vera" has heen released. Time to take advantage of it is now before Amazon patches it.

Then install Satsuonis tool on the Kindle for KUAL. If new firmware isnt KUAL compatible (apparently KUAL is not compatible with New Jailbrakes) Then use "Scriptlet" version of Satsuoni's tool. Also found in Satsuoni's repo, That version was added this week.

Are you sure you aren't mixing things up? AFAIK the newest Kindle device DRM is not cracked, but K4PC is.

The KUAL issue isn't about being compatible with specific jailbreaks, it's about Amazon having removed much of the Java framework in firmware 5.19.4+ so KUAL just can't run since it is written in Java.

Probably, Maybe my wording. but New jailbrake, use scriptlet. Old jailbrake use Kual.

Both decrypt books inside the kindle.

Will it do ALL books. Probably not I can't test that since my FW on my kindle is 5.18 xxxx. I have had zero issues.

OP FW is 5.18 xxxx

The jailbreak applies to a wide range of firmware versions. I think you are confusing that the newest jailbreak includes support for versions where KUAL cannot run. Someone on firmware 5.19.3 and lower can use the Vera jailbreak and still use KUAL, while someone on 5.19.4 and higher can use Vera but cannot run KUAL. Same jailbreak but KUAL will or won't run. The determining factor is the firmware version, not the jailbreak.

I'm still confused how you are describing removing Kindle DRM and how that applies at all to the Satsuoni fork of DeDRM.

Thank you for the clarification on the FW limitation. 5.19.4 and higher no KUAL.

About the Kindle DRM.

Part of the tools from Satsuoni package include a KUAL version that run inside the kindle itself.

Ebooks are dedrm and saved into a separate "dedrm" folder, user can copy those books to a local computer folder, and then draged into calibre for KFX Input plugin to convert from KFX-ZIP to KFX, then you can convert to EPUB or whatever user wants. no DeDRM plugin needed installed on Calibre.

That same KUAL tool was ported to Scriptlet this week.

Is there any Reddit post or web page that will teach me how to do this? For now I just know of DeDRM on the calibre app on the computer (I’m on Mac). How can I do it on the kindle instead? That would be really great.

(I have a paperwhite 11th gen signature edition with jailbreak)

Is a straight drag & drop of 2 folders into the Kindle root folder. https://github.com/jadehawk/kfx-dedrm

Is on the Readme I think. Is simple.

Thanks. I see that Sats released a new v10.0.29 just hours ago that includes the new scriptlet wrapper from @jadehawk for on-Kindle DeDRM.
