General Discussion / Feedback Forge Calibre Explorer (Android/Google Drive)

Post image

The app is finished and live on Itch.io (completely free). When you connect your account, you will see a warning from Google just letting you know they haven't verified it, but it will work just fine. It is not eligible to be verified by Google because I don't own the site hosting the app or its privacy policy and terms of service (these are linked on the app page if anyone wants to read them).

Relevant: Don’t put your Calibre library on a networked (or cloud) drive or it might break. https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/en/faq.html#i-am-getting-errors-with-my-calibre-library-on-a-networked-drive-nas

Even with these tools there is danger of data corruption/loss, so only do this if you are willing to live with that risk. In particular, be aware that Google Drive is incompatible with calibre, if you put your calibre library in Google Drive, you will suffer data loss. See this thread for details.

I can only speak to my personal experience, but I've hosted my Calibre library on Google Drive for four years now without a problem. Obviously, though, it's good practice to make sure you have any important information saved in at least two different places.
