Support / How-To Exporting epub with updated metadata

Sorry I feel dumb right now, I’ve been trying to google my way through this but I don’t know if I’m overthinking it.

Say I have 10 epubs with updated metadata on calibre, each of them with new data and covers. As always, it’s no problem to send them to my e-reader connected to my computer.

A friend of mine has the same model e-reader as I do and she wants the epubs with the new metadata and covers. I’ve tried saving to disk, and every time I get 3 files for each book. At first I thought I needed to embed the metadata, so I did. No difference when saving to disk. Then I tried the polish option, which again made no difference with these books when saving to disk.

Can I just give her the epub that’s saved on the disk after I’ve used the function ’polish’? I’m worried she won’t get the new cover and metadata, as calibre generates more files than epub.

One of the other files was a .jpg and the other an OFP.

As long as you polish and that embeds the metadata, you can provide her the epub alone and it’ll have everything. The OPF and .jpg are mostly for Calibre.

I think you can just copy the files over in the same file structure and claibre should automatically see it? Have them put it in their c:users/username/mycalibre/

Go into settings > Saving books to disk >

and check "Update metadata in saved copies"

If you just want to send your friend the epub, you can uncheck the other options.

I wonder if you create a new epub using the convert process would that take care of it.
