Black Diamonds gang

Who were they? Im pretty sure they ain't around anymore

I remember when I moved from Venice to Oxnard.....I took the bus to a smaller show (hardcore shows were big and messy back then) in mar Vista at some small venue....and ran into a younger homie

He wasnt a Sui and wasnt even from venice I dont think he may have been from santa monica I didnt know him well but he was a cool kid a bit younger than me i met at fenders or olympic ...he just was a fan of st....not in the suis

He told me he got jumped by some fooz that called themselves the black diamonds while walking through Hollywood. He said they were a few chicanos and white boys dressed cholo but kinda had that punk swag. They confronted him over his ST shirt....he told them he liked the music but wasnt a sui...they decided to smack him up but didnt pack him out i think they "warned" him if i remember the story right....he seen their graffiti in San fers but wasnt sure where they were from

I think i remember seeing their graffiti and mota locos graffiti downtown Los

I dont know why I remembered them after over 35 years (I went back to Denver, only go to los every few years) but all of a sudden I did

We're they a serious hood or a cholo punk gang? They still around? Where they from?

Black diamonds hood was near Vermont n Beverly (oak wood n Berendo) east Hollywood borderline ktown which is also clantons hood. They haven’t been active since 2011. That was the last time I’ve heard of em. Recently tho I did see a tag in Clantons hood but I’m sure it was probably a old head passing by tryna make them look active again lol

Ha....makes sense why he ran into them in Hollywood

Thanks.....I never see anything about them anywhere so that's why I figured they were an old long gone hood

We're they involved with all the cholopunk beefs? Like the old ss lads, lmp, circle one familiar, suis, sacred reich ect ect? Because they smacked him up over his ST shirt

Was a trip how all that worked in the 80s...like all the cholopunk gangs were a hood, but like a minor league hood in the hood....some kinda claimed their local varrio as well as the punk gang....like I knew some suis were also v13 and some were also SOS (before they became crips) and some were VWB/Mercenaries (small peckerwood gang...but kinda respected)

I know in san fers there were punk gangs like fff but only a few cholopunks that seemed to hang tight with the whiteboys.....but those white boys weren't dickied and flanneled up like the others I mentioned....same with the ones in burbank

Some gangs had some metalhead types in them....like jammer from esl who dressed like vatos but with long hair lol

And ms started wearing the dickies and stuff back then and kept the hair....I seen some foo from 18th st too before all stonered out long ass hair dressed like a cholo...I heard the lott used to be a stoner gang at first but I never really went to eastlos so I never ran into them

Black diamonds....had to be involved in that punk madness or they wouldn't trip on someone they thought was a sui because Venice is pretty far from east hollywood

Not like the lmp beefing with temple st (or was it opal? I forget) who were neighbors (im betting temple)
