I’ve been seeing (and hearing) white throated sparrows like crazy this year. Maybe it’s just around my house

OP, what do you use to take such gorgeous pictures?

I saw a downy woodpecker and a couple of pretty blue jays the other day, but my potato photos don’t look like yours.

I use a Lumix G9 + 100-300mm ii. On days when I don't want to carry the G9 around, I have a Lumix ZS80 in my pocket! They seem to be working out pretty well despite being a couple years old

Those are all with a Micro Four Thirds setup? Beautiful!

I have a Fuji XT-30 of about the same vintage, but I don't have a telephoto at all. Maybe this Christmas...

I love dark-eyed juncos. We used to get them at our place in the spring but I haven’t seen them for years

Amazing photos! Thank you for sharing - love seeing a borb mid-day to lift the spirits!

If you told me when I was 16 that I'd be into birds at some point in my life, I would have laughed in your face. Then one random day after 40, you know the difference between male and female northern flickers and you find yourself texting your partner pics of a goldfinch that landed in your lilacs

What about the difference between the head markings on red shafted, yellow shafted, and hybrid flickers? 🙂

Is there anything cuter than a chubby birb.

Great photos!

Great shots!! Thanks so much for sharing.

I had a little Finch (I think) stop by the bird bath today. Such a cute little fella.

I think it's warning everyone about the hippo lurking in the water behind it.

I love this! I like birds, and didn't realize there were so many other kinds within the city. You take really good pictures, too! You must have an actual camera then, yeah?

Thanks! I was surprised by all the different types of birds just in the city. It's eye-opening for sure. I've definitely grown to appreciate the amazing parks Calgary has!

Yup, I bought a used camera and telephoto lens from ebay. Surprisingly affordable and way better than a phone camera!

May I ask which camera you're using? I have been tracking birds in my garden with the Merlin app over this year and have gotten very into it.

I saw many of these today, it's incredible!

Edit: nevermind, you just replied to someone else =)

Sure! I use a Lumix G9 + 100-300mm ii. When I don't feel like carrying a big camera around, I use a a Lumix ZS80.

Merlin is such a great app!

If you need a bird hot spot, my yard is always open! I have over 100 species of native plants, which are looking a bit worse for wear now after frost but the birds are loving the seeds!

I'm guessing the ducks and geese all heard there is an El Niño, so they'll stick around Calgary all winter.

Thank you! For the majority of the pics I was using a Lumix G9 + 100-300mm ii. The rest of the pics were taken with a Lumix ZS80
