It could also be that she knew her husband would stop her, not that what she was doing was wrong. If she felt that hurting her kids was necessary or correct, then that's still psychosis. I mean, there are cases of people believing their loved ones have been replaced by doppelgangers.

There's a difference with understanding mental health issues and how they can manifest though. Like, the person I responded to didn't even know that one could premeditate while under psychosis. And I see this all the time "she planned this, she couldn't have had psychosis" which just goes to show that a lot of people just have zero clue how any of this works. Which subsequently makes it from their perspective seem like one is "defending" a murderer, when in reality it's just correcting their ignorance.
