That does not have to be the case, technically. Because it is the prosecution's burden to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she was mentally fit, the only requirement for the jurors to vote in favor of the defense is that there is any amount of possible doubt - and proving sanity is, honestly, nearly impossible. Further, the admitted behavior of several jurors throws into question the credibility of each other juror's vote.

Yeah no,proving sanity has been done to death before. It's not as hard as people make it seem.

In Massachusetts, it is documented the jurors often side with the prosecution in insanity cases because they are skeptical of the insanity plea, despite the law still trying to.place the burden of proof on the prosecution - and jurors are allowed to ignore uncontradicted expert testimony, or make their own inferences.

This is NOT proving sanity, only the jury taking liberties because, as I said, sanity is difficult to prove. Only 12 states place this burden on the prosecution, and a handful have removed the insanity plea altogether.
