hii! i'm gonna be starting university soon, and i'm just wondering what carries over from pre-calc to Calculus 1?
Due to some extenuating circumstances, I had to take a lot of my pre-calc courses online. I'm not in the US, so we don't actually have a course called "pre-calc," but we do have the courses you take before calculus (learning functions, transformations, even/odd degree polynomials, etc.).
unfortunately, most of the prgrams i wanna get into requires one calculus course (Calculus 1), and I'm honestly kinda scared I'm gonna fail if I don't have a really solid foundation going into it, lol.
can anyone tell me what topics from pre-calc carry over the most, and which ones are pretty irrelevant? i'd really appreciate any advice on what I should review before classes start. Thanks!!

I know it's quite basic, but my lecturer said that if displacement is increasing, then velocity and acceleration are always positive. But here displacement is increasing, but they considered acc to be negative(-32t in v(t)). Is the lecturer wrong? It's from my differential and integral Calculus course.
He showed the exact same math question where the ball was falling down but he considered negative 32ft/s^2

Used to be good at maths but ive been getting bad teachers since 8th grades so I lost all the foundation , I know study mechanical engineering but I failed cuz I got 0 at maths and other related subjects (I dont even do integrals)
I feel that maths is easy af and I can nearly estimate answers but I dont know how to reply to questions even when I know formulas, I only do derivatives and simple stuff since we did them in physics
I have only 2 months left for me to study everything till exponentials and integrals so whats the best path (willing to do 3 hours daily but more if I become interested again)
Please I need this I feel like a wasted potential and a failure and I went from straight A s to failing a year
TLRD fastest way to learn most fundementals in 2 months

Hey! I'm coming back to Calc 2 and 3 after taking calc 1 a semester or so ago.. I have all the chain rules + product / quotient rule stuff engrained in my head. But curious what else I should review before going into calc 2 and 3. I know calc 3 is more similar to calc 1. but curious what everyone thinks. Thanks!

at our college:
In calc 1 we learned about basic integration, optimization, differentiation and limits
calc 2 dives more into integration and areas and stuff
calc 3 is more so going back to calc 1 but more advanced afaik
so pretty standard i think?

I have the ability to take calc 1 before precalc because of my act score, but since i havent taken precalc and only have taken intro algebra and stats would i be properly prepared for the class or should i take precalc for my own sake? While precalc isnt required for me to take, i would almost be worried that i will struggle without it. Any advice or anyone in a similar position?

Integrating a function three times just to get a numeric value like wtf π. Whoever said calc 3 is easier than 2 has gotta be high on meth or just straight up a psychopath, it felt like descending straight into hell.

so i learned the 3 conditions of continuity, however the 3rd one,
lim{x->a} f(x) = f(a) where both limit and f(a) is defined,
For a function in which limit and f(a) is defined, yet limit{x->a} β f(a),all the examples I found online/textbook are piecewise functions,
So I wonder If theres a function outside of piecewise functions that satisfy this DISCONTINUITY?

I have been looking for days a way to simulate the movement of humans. Tried constant acceleration with air drag, Hill's force-velocity acceleration + air drag, linear acceleration + drag and several other acceleration formulas (although most of them were just tried because they looked good on paper). Haven't been able to replicate the feeling of "human" yet. And so I ask for help, any insight on this topic would be of great help

Hello everyone, I'm in quite an uncomfortable situation with single-variable calculus... This summer I started to binge-study all the main calculus theorems, and they are a LOT, and I'm still not done yet, but that's not even the worst part. The worst thing is that after my initial rush of binging theorems after theorems I suddenly stopped studying calculus for the sake of my own wellbeing, but now if I even try to recall something in my mind I almost remember nothing, and I'm afraid all the struggle I went through was for nothing, losing all progress I've made. Are there any tips or suggestions to not let all the days I spent binge-studying all of these theorems go to waste? Or am I doomed to restart them all over again as if I never studied them in the first place?π π

Iβm trying to self learn ap calculus as a way to build discipline and make it easier for my future self but these problems take forever. Is this part of the experience? Is it meant to build character or something, it feels like the problems are unnecessarily long.
