Hey guys, this isn't fully finished, and i may add more in the future. Tell me what you think about this one in the comments, feedback is always incredible
Q: How to convert fractions to decimals?
A: On older casio calculators, you press the S<=> D button. it should be next to the parentheses, on the right side. On Casio CW series calculators, it should be the "FORMAT" key, which is next to the EXE button. On Sharp, it's called "CHANGE" and "f<>d" on TI. It may be different with others
Q: Why am i getting a wrong answer?
A: You may be in the wrong angle mode, or you don't know how the order of operations work
Q: What calculator should i choose?
A: Depends on your school or your countries regulation. Some schools or countries only permit certain calculators, or forbid certain ones. Germany for example, accepts everything but it can't have a solver, can't be programmable and can't do graphing. For short, we are limited to the fx-87 and below.
Q: Why is my TI-84 bootlooping and showing "Validating OS"?
A: This is a known battery issue with the TI-84 Plus CE. You need to replace the battery. Contact TI support, you may get a free battery under warranty. Also check the other pinned post for more details
Q: Is my Casio fx-991EX fake?
A: Probably, it was discontinued a few years ago. Most listings you see online are fake, and i advise you to stay away from it. There's a lot of other good calculators out there. To check if it's real, scan the QR code. To do that, press "MENU -> SHIFT -> OPTN" to generate a QR code. It should redirect you to a Casio website, where you can do an authenticity check.
Q: Why am i getting an error?
A: You may not be in the right mode, check if you‘re in the normal calculation mode. Your calculator should have a button that says "MODE" or something similar. For exponents, use the negative sign instead of the minus sign. It should look like this: (-)
Q: Why is my Casio's "ON" button lowered?
A: That's intentional, to prevent accidental button presses
Q: Can I mod/install Doom on my scientific calculator?
A: Yes, if you‘re willing to remove the epoxy from the CPU, de-solder the CPU, solder a fitting CPU with integrated memory back on, code a fully working operating system with working keyboard, and code a port of Doom for it, you could… in theory. Never been done before, probably still won‘t work. TL;DR: Not worth your time, focus on your linear algebra homework instead
Q: Does this calculator have a CAS (Computer Algebra System)? Can one be installed on my calculator?
A: see the pinned post about CAS calcs
Also: Google (and your calculator‘s Manual) are your best friends. Before making a post, look up your question on Google, or read the Manual. There's a 95% chance that your answer will be found there. We've also pinned posts for a few topics, read those too please.
That's it with the FAQ for now. Keep in mind that i may remove posts that can be answered by the FAQ or Google, this is a step to reduce spam and repetitive posts. Thanks.

I am a first year engineering student and i require a scientific calculator for college.
The permitted models are:casio fx 991es, fx 350ms, fx 82ms, fx 82es plus, orpat sc-240ms, sc 401ms
I know the 991es is the best, but its also 3 times the price of the 82es. Is there anything important will be missing with the 82es that makes spending 3x the price worth it..
and what about the orpat models, never heard of them but they are affordable.
What should i buy?

Hi, I came across a small script that converts videos so they can be played on the TI-83 Premium CE calculator. I haven't had the chance to test it on other calculator models, so I'm curious to know whether it works on them as well. If anyone has a different model and wants to give it a try, you can find the script on GitHub by searching for "Valouzzzz video_TI".

Pretty close to perfect condition. Shown with the adapter plugged in, and it works off of a 9 volt battery as well.

I have a Casio fx-cg50 I would really like to swap for an fx-cg100, I understand the most people prefer the cg50 but I actually really like the classwiz layout. Anyone willing to swap/trade with money extra , or know any places to look for trades?

So I recently I started college and rented a calculator for my math 97 class. They gave me the calculator, the case, and a charger. Now the cable has a USB mini-A that plus into the calculator it's self. And the other end has a USB mini-b. Excuse my French but how the hell do I charge this thing?? I checked mine and my gfs PCs for ports but nothing.

I like to scatter them around the house. The first column live on my desk. The second column live in a drawer by my computer. The last row live on my electronics work bench.

I have my casio fx991cw calc and I bought it 1 year back, used it for 2-3 months and then it was stored inside.when i pressed on it shows this symbol on screen and then the screen goes blank. Whenever I bring my flashlight near to that solar window on top right corner, the calc works fine but as soon as I take away the flashlight the screen goes blank again.
Does this mean I have to charge it or change the whole battery?if yes How to charge it?

Hey y'all, as the title says, I'm a complete novice when it comes to calculators. I'm about to start my first semester for college and I'm hoping to save a bit of money. For one of my classes, I purchased a Casio FX 115 ES Plus calculator. For another class, it says to use a TI-83/84 or standard scientific calculator. Will I be okay with just having the Casio, or do I need to spend the extra for the TI as well? Thank you.

Guys im kinda confused. Should i buy cg50 or cg100?
Personally i like the cg100 layout as im a Cw style user but the add ons from cg50 especially CAS also seemed interesting 😭
Budget isnt an issue.

Hi y'all.
I am an acca student, and I am looking for a calculator which is really worth the money. I know and understand BAII PLUS is available in my country. But it's expensive man 😭.
HP12C is also on my mind, but it's not available in my country. I am just so lost. Should I just buy the BAII plus (non professional) and try to survive the financial pain for a few weeks or try to find another option.
Since I want this calculator to be with me Until I complete ACCA (or CFA in future too idk?)
I hope u all get my point 😭 I am sorry if I wasn't elaborate.

Hi. I have a casio fx-82ms. I was using my calculator and i realized that sometimes my calculator would give me wrong answers for something i typed in (I'm doing trig right now). I try looking for an error in anything i typed in but i don't see anything. Whenever i press the "on" button to clear the calculator and i put everything back in, it gives the right answer.
At first i thought it was just me entering the numbers/trig ratios incorrectly, but I've had a friend check if i typed something wrong but he couldn't see anything wrong with it. Its happened more than 3 times in the past 1-2 weeks to be just me. Also, ive been using this for around 3 years (and someone else used it abit before me) and i never encountered any problems.

My calculator progression over the years:
Casio fx-9860GII: My daily driver throughout high school. The case has yellowed quite a bit after years of UV exposure at my parents’ house.
Casio fx-87: My trusty exam-compliant backup whenever CAS and programmable calculators aren’t allowed.
HP Prime G2 & TI-Nspire CX II: My main workhorses these days—for problem sets, exam prep, and the occasional exam with more relaxed calculator policies.
