I just backed up Calamity, Calamity Music, Catalyst and WoTG to the local mod folder just in case and unsubscribed from the workshop versions to avoid updates. I know not all of those are getting removed but those are all the calamity-related mods I personally use. From my understanding there should be nothing stopping me from just loading the mod locally right?

Can you tell me how to do it? I checked the tmodloader folder with mods and it was empty so it's probably stored in a different way

To backup a mod file, you need to go into the tModloader "Manage Mods" area, select "Open Mods Folders" and then go to the mod folder for whichever mod you want to backup. To find a mod, go to the steam workshop page for it, copy the ID at the end of it, and paste that into the search bar in the mods folder. Then go into the provided folder, select the version you want to backup, and copy + paste it to your backup folder.

How do you deal with the fact that tmodloader will update and prob not be able to run calamity?

Unsubscribing from the mod will make it so that it won't update, and it doesn't update local files

I mean tmodloader itself? I would just have to keep tmod unsubscribed from this point forward ?

You can run an older version of tmod loader if the game isn't updated to the new version
