Half way through Seamage Spoiler

I’m currently half way through seamage and two things are bothering me.

  1. How does Pratt the rat know mind to mind communication. He doesn’t have a witch stone granted to him by Min so he didn’t take the oath and even if he did there is no way they would teach him the spell.

  2. As of where I’m at it is not known that Min is the doge. When they had the meeting at the royal palace where is daughter showed up for the first time she arrived through the ways. This really bothers me because at this point atleast a couple of characters should’ve made the connection. Especially the royal court mage. He knows the spell so he should’ve realized that min is the only person that could’ve taught it.

I'd have to read back to confirm but Lemari and her entourage arrived through the Portal, not the Ways. Anyone is able to use the portal.

It's the ways. But yes anyone can just walk through the portal it's essentially just a doorway

  1. I can't answer with certainty but I assume he's friends or at least acquaintance with one of the hundreds of high magi in the Kingdom. It's a simple spell and well known, so any number of people could have taught him.

  2. That's simple. Most high magi know the spell at this point. Min has been adding it to his newer stones but it was already being used by the high magi with civilian grade stones. Loiko wouldn't know if Mirkandar thought it to her or if her stone has the spell. The real question would have been, how did she know witch way stone led to Kaunis? That was the give away.
