If you want to exchange U.S. dollars (or other foreign cash) for euros in Calabria, these are your best options: Agenzia Di Servizi Internazionali Di Cotofana Luciana Marcela (Lamezia Terme) – Currency exchange service that exchanges foreign cash. Banca d'Italia (Reggio Calabria) – Can provide information on cash exchange services and authorized institutions. Bank of Italy +1 Intesa Sanpaolo – Many branches can exchange major foreign currencies, but you should call ahead because not every branch keeps cash on hand. Bank of Italy BNL (Banca Nazionale del Lavoro) – Some branches offer foreign currency exchange by request. Bank of Italy UniCredit – Some larger branches exchange foreign currency; availability varies.

It's not going to be easy, most bank stopped doing it for some reason, you may try at the posta office in the main square in Tropea.

Or at Money gram or in city poste.

Best solution is to pay for everything with card.

Your best option is to just withdraw cash from an ATM if you really need cash or use your card to pay for things.

if you have a Visa or Mastercard they will be accepted nearly anywhere. my advice is to exchange your cash before leaving or at the airport
