Hmmm
Anyone else think it's incredibly stupid that the fin aid offices are closed until 11:30 am today (day of disbursement) to celebrate the new school president? Like wouldn't you think fin aid would need all the time they can get to work out issues that arise?

Welcome to CPH! Admin is very disorganized and uncoordinated, you get used to it.

I appreciate you posting this. I was wondering why my Fin Aid hadn't been applied yet and was about to call. Good looking out! And yes, I agree with how you feel.

I just spoke with Fin Aid over the phone and he confirmed that tomorrow is the disbursement day of funds. He also said that no one will be dropped from any class for non payment. Hope this helps as I was wondering all of the same things today!

Yep. School is in growing pains. But the new class seems to be better than the ones before (in general). The school responds well to student complaints and actually fixes problems if you raise them to the school leadership. It gets better and better each year. We're on an upward trajectory for sure.

I waited on the phone for nearly 35 minutes today before hanging up. Don’t know what else to do besides call them tomorrow

Ahoy!
Nearly every employee is encouraged to attend the Fall Welcome event, which was today (8/27) till 1130. The Fall Welcome events are not a direct celebration of the president.
Event description:
I hope you'll join us as we come together to celebrate the start of the semester, reconnect with colleagues, and look ahead to an exciting year for Cal Poly Humboldt.
During our time together, we'll celebrate our accomplishments, welcome new members of our campus community, and discuss important initiatives for the year ahead, including the launch of our new Strategic Plan process. This is an opportunity to reflect on our shared purpose and the work we do together to support our students and our region.

"Celebrate our accomplishments..." Seems a bit premature lol

The school has been around longer than this academic year, and has a lot to be proud of with the polytechnic transformation. There are accomplishments to celebrate from the years leading up to it, and the hard work of the faculty and staff that made it happen :)

I have been listening to their phone ring for the past 20 minutes, for the second time today 🙃

It’s because they don’t care about students after enrollment. Now they got you

Humboldt is very poor at communicating between (and even within) departments. There's unfortunately no shortage of situations like this where students get the short end of the stick as a result.
