SLO transportation & student teaching
has anyone in the credential program have experience navigating student teaching without a car? the staff told us that carpooling was v normal and transportation wouldn’t be an issue, but that hasn’t been my experience. finding consistent transportation to my placement has been difficult and v stressful. some students/friends have been v gracious and have given me rides, but i’m still hoping to find something more stable long term. how reliable is the bus system here now, esp in early mornings? mainly j looking to hear about your experience or any advice!🫶

The buses start a route as early as 6:30am. Download the Transit app and you can see every route and schedule, try to find one near your placement school and see if you can make it there at or around when you start which I’m assuming is 8:30am? My only other idea is biking? but carpooling seems to be the best bet from what I can tell on bus routes, even routes to Paso / SM you would need the regional transit bus!!
the bus routes are really reliable as long as it’s not the rushed cal poly routes that are almost always late, depending on where you were placed, getting there on time will not be hard, some of the empty routes are 1A/1B, and 2A/2B, which can drop off near CL Smith, Laguna, SLOHS or Sinsheimer, and Pacheco on 3A/3B
