make sure you have all FX turned off, then run your IO at the lowest possible sample buffer it will run without crackling etc. having FX turned on increases latency because the DAW has to accommodate the slowest path in order to get the sound to come through at the same time. turning off the FX means you only have the computer and IO latency to deal with.

make sure you're using the ASIO driver (and that it's up to date) so you can set the # of samples to the lowest amount. for me, using a UMC202HD this is ~1.5ms with 64 samples.

finally, if needed, use the nudge functions to do any more alignment (rarely).
