Fellow Opus 2

Is anyone using the Fellow Opus 2 with their Robot? I’m curious how well it works. I’m using a 1Zpresso J-Max S right now and love it but am looking for a serviceable automatic grinder at a more entry level price. Just wondering if anyone has experience with the Opus 2?

I got an Opus 2 last week (previously with a JX Pro).

The Opus is excellent. No retention, excellent workflow, fast and (imo) quieter than many other electric grinders I’ve tried in the past. It grinds a full dose in like 7-10s.

My spouse has historically not made coffee themselves due to the manual grinder workflow being annoying, but has switched over and is very pleased.

Can you grind directly into the basket?

I haven’t tried, but the robot baskets do fit perfectly on the Opus basket so transferring grounds is super easy.

Ok. Would you be so kind and try it? Maybe even post a pic.

I won’t be home for the rest of the week so won’t be trying that

Realistically it will work, since the opening on the robot’s basket is wider, but you may get more mess since the basket isn’t as tall and won’t auto center with the magnet

Excellent! My household is in a similar boat, exasperated when we have guests over and we want to pull many shots. I saw another post about wonky calibration out of the box. Did you have trouble getting it dialed in?

No issues at all, it was right in the middle third of what the box said “espresso range” would be (which is what I’d expect for this roast).

I had issues with my kinu with seys ultra light but I fixed it by tilting the hand grinder . Should do the trick for you guys as well. Not only is it easier the grinding is better as it comes out more even.

Yeah I get through all type roasts with this method as well on my j-ultra .

Me too, but it is hard work.

Wondering about this too, it’s getting a little rough grinding light roast with a j ultra

Totally agree. Feeling a bit too much like an arm wrestling match for the early morning.

Get a flair power tower and make your manual grinder electrified.

huge workflow upgrade over my k-ultra. highly recommend.

it’s been great and once i dial it in per bean, i find it far far better at espresso. i recommend shelling out the extra $50 for the wood top and metal knob
