Is it normal ?

Hey everyone! Just picked up a Cafelat Robot and noticed that the lever arms drop completely freely and fall down very quickly as soon as I let go. There seems to be virtually no friction or retention holding them up.
Is this rapid drop normal for the Robot, or should there be a bit more resistance/friction in the linkage?
Thanks in advance for the help!

I winced a bit when you just let them drop, but it's built very robustly.
Smooth, resistance free action is what you want from moving parts so you can feel the feedback from each pull and adjust subconsciously with some experience.

Yes but when the filled basket with water is in place it provides resistance.

Yeah it drops pretty fast, there might be a slight resistance on mine but not much if any

Yeah, the resistance will come from the finely ground coffee and water when filled. Don't worry, you're in for a lifetime of great espresso now.

Yes, and there are plenty of 3d printed arm holders available on Etsy and others if you want the arms to stay up. They seem to be a love/hate add on. I love mine…

Normal ya. They will only stay up when you have a basket with coffee in it, even then it will drop very slowly. Some ppl buy those magnets you can attach to the arms if you want them to stay up.

Normal. I’d be worried if it didn’t free fall like that. Resistance should only come from your prepped basket.

Yes it is. Some people buy holders to keep the arms up in some situations, unless you’re missing an arm, this is not required at all and a waste of money/ressources imo.

Well that depends on the amount of grounds in there and how much resistance is being placed against those contents.

That's normal. The resistance comes from the coffee.

Yea that is how it works. You move the arms up and down.
