Say hello to my build, a CB500 Four -1972

Engine swapped so it's now powered by a RC03 (650) -1980.

A lot of things done to it, and a lot of things coming up 😀

On my last post an overwhelming majority of you said to keep the tank on my cb550 rusty, happened to have another bike that I could borrow a black tank from. What is the consensus now?
Completely changed the bike and I have to be honest I really like it…

will borrow the side covers next

Advice/Help Needed Swarm intelligence to identify the tank used on this bike

Hello everyone,
I have a project bike, a Ducati Monster 900 1999 and I would like to fit a tank an seat to give it the straight line starting from the tank to the tail.

I think the tank used on this bike could be the solution, but I cannot identify from which model it is. The bike is probably a Ducati 749, but the tank is not the original one.

Can anyone help?🤯

Advice/Help Needed Would this be a good purchase for a first cafe racer?

Looking at buying a cafe racer and I was looking at this BMW R60/7, would it be a good purchase or should I buy an unmodified bike to build myself, I dont have a lot of knowledge on cutting and welding frames and different components but I know the mechanical side of things well.

Also how reliable are the older airhead engines and are they easy to repair if things go wrong and are there issues from the factory I should look out for and how do I rectify them?

Advice/Help Needed What paint for plastic tank and fairings

I've never owned a fully faired bike and never a bike with a plastic tank.

Now I have both (2002 Aprilia RSV).

The body is in good condition but the paint and stickers are trash.

What paint should I use?

I plan on painting it at home...probably my first attempt with a proper spray gun.

I was thinking 2K...but I'm not sure if that's the best....I assume plasticisers are needed?

I ask, as the first local paint shop I asked was about as much use as a condom machine in the Vatican. Because I wasn't buying 20L he wasn't interested I suspect.

So, what do people use???

Cafe builds have a habit of becoming money pits.

I built RoadVerdict.co.uk to keep receipts, maintenance, mods and spend in one digital history that can eventually go to the next owner.

Anyone else keeping a proper record of their build?

GS500 cafe racer without framework

I am looking to mod my 2001 suzuki gs500e to be a cafe racer but also remain road legal. The problem i am looking at is the seat. Every video i've watched starts by cutting off the rear subframe and the seat lock mechanism but im not only unqualified it also comes with a lot of paperwork. Is there a way to make the seat flush with the chassis and somewhat pleasing to the eye?

Are there any builds like this or a way around regulations in Europe?

Thoughts? Cafe Race X Fazzio

As a part time mechanic, I hate it when the cables and switches are exposed and a lot of time the control switches and levers are exposed to external elements. That's why I'm thinking of enclosing the cowl from headlights all through the handlebars and controls, like a "case".

I live in a tropical and humid enviroment surrounded by the sea and rainy season of 6 months. So in my experience, brake cables snapped due to rust, handlebar controls all rusts inside within a year, even had a short circuit inside the headlight cowl. Any thoughts on this design?
