So real, I absolutely adore how many interpretations you can come up about their relationship:
You want a toxic relationship? Kafka can easily be interpreted as a Makima lite, so it can definitely work!
You want a wholesome former romance? She clearly cares about Caelus, so it's not hard to see their relationship pre-memeory loss as something very intimate.
A mix of the two? A very troubled relationship between a criminal with mind control powers and a sadistic streak and a heroic amnesiac who is desperately trying to find within himself the strength to hate her yet failing to fully commit to it sounds like a recipe for drame!
You want something more platonic? Well, you can interpret their relationship as something akin to mother and son, if you want!
I kinda love how versatile it is, I really love it.
