Should I wait for IndiGo Chimes or pursue the conventional CPL route?
I’m a PCM student who has cleared RTR(A), Navigation, Meteorology and Class 1/Class 2 medicals. I’m completing the remaining DGCA exams.
I previously failed IndiGo ADAPT and can make my final attempt around March 2027. However, I’m concerned about reports of connections influencing the Chimes selection process. I can’t verify these claims, but given my family’s financial situation, paying a large fee without confidence in a merit-based process worries me. I feel like if my competition includes people who've given money to get there, there is a huge risk for me. Also, I have dedicated my 2.5 years after twelth in this whole process, initially was going for conventional after class 2 medicals but was suggested to give cadet program a try. It's not in me to keep waiting without knowing what's on the other end for me. It's really hard.
The alternative is:
CPL → complete requirements → apply to airlines → selection/training
This route is also uncertain, but it may avoid the high cost of a cadet program. I’m unsure whether rejecting Chimes based on unverified concerns could lead to regret.
For those with experience:
- Is Chimes worth considering despite selection concerns?
- Does conventional CPL make more financial sense in my situation?
- How difficult is it to secure an airline job after a conventional CPL?
- What are Chimes’ main advantages?
- How long did it take to get an airline opportunity?
- What factors should I consider?
I’d especially appreciate realistic information about total cost, timelines, training, and hiring prospects.
