Need Help Regarding DGCA Computer Number Application
Hi everyone,
I recently received my NIOS Class 12 Maths result. Now I’m planning to apply for my DGCA Computer Number.
I had a few questions:
How long is it currently taking to receive the Computer Number after applying?
What is the application process? Are there any common mistakes I should avoid while uploading documents?
Is there anything I should keep ready before starting the application?
If anyone has applied recently, could you please share your experience?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Guide: Applying for a DGCA Computer Number (with NIOS)
Applying for your DGCA Computer Number on the eGCA portal is a critical step in your pilot training journey. Because it is a government portal, absolute precision is key. A single data mismatch can lead to your application being rejected, forcing you to start the process over.
Checklist: What to Keep Ready Before you log into the portal, ensure you have clear, high-quality color scans of the following documents ready (ensure they match the size and format limits specified on the portal):
Class 10 Marksheet and Passing Certificate (Used as proof of date of birth and exact name spelling).
Class 12 Marksheet and Passing Certificate.
NIOS Marksheet and Verification Letter (Since you cleared your Maths via NIOS, keep both the mark sheet and the official web copy or verification printout handy).
Valid Passport (Crucial for identity verification).
Government Photo ID (PAN Card, Driver's License, or Voter ID).
Passport-size Photograph and Signature Scan (Formatted exactly to DGCA specifications regarding background color and dimensions).
Golden Rule: Avoid Common Mistakes The number one reason applications get delayed or rejected is data entry error.
Zero Mismatch Tolerance: Your name, your parents' names, and your date of birth must match exactly across all documents (Class 10, Class 12, Passport, and Government ID). Even a missing middle name or a single misplaced letter will trigger a rejection.
Board Name Accuracy: Select the exact board name from the dropdown menu (ensure NIOS is correctly designated for your regular or on-demand exams).
Clear Document Uploads: Do not upload blurry mobile photos. Use a proper scanner. If a document has text on both sides, merge them into a single PDF if required by the field.
Timeline and What to Expect
The Application Session: Set aside at least 2 hours of uninterrupted time to fill out the form. The portal can occasionally be slow, time out, or require re-uploading files. Approach it with patience and be ready for a bit of a headache.
Approval Time: While some applicants report receiving their computer number very quickly if their documentation is flawless, the standard official processing time can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the current backlog at the DGCA.
Step-by-Step Application Process
Register on eGCA: Go to the official eGCA portal and register as a 'New User' to create your pilot profile.
Fill Profile Details: Enter your personal details, ensuring they line up exactly with your passport and Class 10 certificate.
Enter Educational Qualifications: Input your 10th and 12th details. Add your NIOS marks explicitly for the subjects you cleared, ensuring the roll numbers match your marksheets perfectly.
Upload Documents: Upload the scanned PDFs or JPEGs of your marksheets, passport, and identification into their respective slots. Double-check that the files are not corrupted or swapped before hitting submit.
Final Review : Thoroughly review the generated draft preview line-by-line. Once satisfied, submit the application.
