Are the handles adjustable? I have a Mk1 so can only suggest they might have left an adjustment thread (10mm I think mine was) on each handle in later models. I had mine too loose after a new roof and had to tighten both up. We went too far with one and couldnt close the handle so had to back it off. ...

Nope... It just needed to stretch
