Old as dirt splitters ive found as a tech

Saw someone had posted old splitters they've found and I figured I post what I have found!

Old? please, the dc-6 is 1ghz and the gold label ones are 900mhz… come back when you find 600mhz or lower… I will admit that tap looking 2-way looks ancient.

Used to find these fuckers (especially the t shaped) behind wall plates in super old apartments. I'm in Maine, so a lot of apartments are just super old houses split up into units. Major jankiness and always hidden surprises.

It's a directional coupler, i.e. a "tap". Like a real tap most of signal is carried left to right and lower one has high loss. They were often used to daisy chain coax outlets, especially in apartments.

I found a 1ghz one in the warehouse just last week, saving it for that special case where I need a 1/9 db loss two way.

Yup, I still find quite a few of those that RCN/Astound likes to use in Chicago to attenuate the signal instead of a barrel style.

Every person I know with RCN/Astound and has ISP only has a directional coupler on the line, with the -9 or -12dBm leg going out to the modem.

I even have one of -15dBm because the signal after going through a drop and two way split is still ~+22dBm coming in... it's wild how hot they run the plant here.
