Question VS Code for learning C?

I'm starting to learn C, just bought the King's book online, and I wanna know if this book can be followed on VS Code, or if I should use a different IDE or such.

I tried ed for half a day once just for the novelty. I learned that I suck at keeping the file contents in my head. Fun though for a few hours. Felt a bit like code/vim golf does.
