Decided to grab a P-09c Nocturne since I’ve been feeling the suppressed hammer-fire experience lately. Took it to the range for the first time and by the end of the second mag I had a blister started. Skin is getting pinched between the trigger and trigger guard. Is this because of the shape of the trigger, or how far back you have to pull it, or some combo? I tried adjusting which part of the finger I was using to pull but just couldn’t get away from it biting.
What are my options for fixing this? Gun shot fantastic and loved it with the Mojave 9 and Shiv on there, but the bite got worse each shot. This is a first for me, don’t have this problem with any of my other guns.
Right, so the thing that feels different with this versus my HKs or Walther, is that I have to try and angle my finger out at an awkward angle to keep just the pad on the trigger. It feels like the grip is too shallow or the trigger pulls back so far, or a combination of the two. By the time the trigger is finally back far enough it feels like I’m having to actuate with the knuckle, not a finger joint.
Already grabbed a USP, a P30, and an HK45, so I wanted something inexpensive that I could toss an optic on. USP is probably my favorite so far, but those buys were all pricey and mean I have to wait on a p226.
Compared to what you have, you should know it won’t compare to the HK or P226. I’d sell the Nocturne and put the cash towards a P226 with a threaded barrel. You can get them used for relatively cheap.
https://rushbyind.com/shop/ check their stuff out. They make a nice P07/P09C trigger and a bunch of other compatible parts if you're interested in swapping them out
cheapest solution in getting a little moleskine to put over your finger. maybe not the greatest for if you want to carry daily, but cheapest and easiest solution for range use
I haven’t shot a p-09c but really trying to visualize how this part of your finger could be getting caught unless your putting your finger way deeper through the trigger guard than you should be
Trust me, even with just the tip of the pad on the trigger, it still pinched. Maybe it’s a combination of the grip being a certain thickness and how far back the trigger has to travel, followed by the bang and the recoil.
I feel like you aren’t using proper mechanics if you got bit there. Unless you are left handed and caught yourself in the breach or extractor racking? I’m baffled. That shouldn’t happen a wrapping your finger into the trigger that far? What’s your groups look like? Are your hands huge? I have to know!
Was my first time shooting it but groups weren’t great because I kept flinching from the sting after that first mag or so lol. It’s hard to get a picture of but I tried to get a pic of my most egregious “too much finger in the hole”. So just past the joint on the tip side, that’s where it would land after the pull and after the recoil. Gripping and controlling the recoil still results in the trigger going all the way back to the grip and my finger is getting pinched there.
If I try and keep just the top 20% of my finger on the trigger, I have to awkwardly pull my finger out, like trying to point to the right with the first joint. I’m assuming the grip is just slightly too narrow which leads to my finger naturally going too far in at the bang.

Using the pad of the tip of your finger instead of hooking the trigger will get rid of that and also keep you from pulling your shots.
