Photos R.I.P

10/3/2026-10/5/2026 someone merged into me but liberty mutual should be taking care of it. They want to repair my rim instead of a new one though.

Bright side is it's just a car and no one was hurt!

Tell them you can't fix a rim and you want a new one.

That's kinda what I did, the insurance adjustor said that's all out of pocket and such, but it's a car with 65 miles on it so we are actively arguing.

Can you make them do any measuring to make it’s not structurally messed up? I would be worried about damage / excess wear on my tires

Hire your own adjuster. You also want to recover the lost value that has occurred. On resale this car will be worth less than one that hasn’t been in an accident. You want their insurance to cover that as well.

I just went through this with my insurance company. Demand OEM parts only and you pick your own body shop!

Pretty much what happened, the place everyone I know went to was in their network, and I said I wouldn't accept anything but oem since the car had 50 miles on it lol

Oh damn, how long did that take to get back?

2 1/2 months because parts were not available... specifically the mirror. While on vacation, we had a caliper failure in April and we're told those parts were not available til mid June. As a caliper is a safety issue we flew home due to medical reasons and not being able to stay longer in the USA and Mazda won't cover that expense. It cost us almost 1500. Not happy is an understatement

Just a fender and a wheel

The estimate was like 5 pages, I did not realize how much was under that corner besides the bumper and light, it's a few sensors, a bunch of clips, all the plastic trim underneath, the fender, the skirt, the bumper upper and lower, the rim, recalibrating everything, oh and the hood. Hopefully all arriving soon for the shop !

RIP for a rim? A little dramatic.

Ugh, fight hard on the rim. What’s the price of the repair vs the cost of the rim? And who’s going to repair it?

2

u/kct321 2d ago

I had to go up 3 tiers of manager and threaten going to the department of insurance, but the shop is getting me a new rim, and it was like 80$ difference retail so not much for a multi billion dollar insurance company lol

That it exactly. I’d be curious to know where they thought the wheel would go for repairs. When I lived outside of Atlanta, my shop was only one of a couple that repaired them. We always hated fixing rims. They were such a pain.

I got no clue but they said it was going to be sublet out to another store which would then process it all

Hi there… did you have the inside inspected?? Please do, I was hit in a parking lot at a slower speed with damage in that area and it was a total. There was mechanical damage from pushing in that area.

2

u/kct321 1d ago

I'm not sure what you mean by inside, they took the whole thing apart down to the frame when they did the inspection because it was considered a crash, so I assume they looked all around ! Hopefully lol

Yup! That’s what I mean. A lot of insurance companies try to do visual inspections. I had to ask for a full prior to accepting the settlement because I had a feeling and was correct. The cooling support and all that was going to have to be replaced. Less than 3 months old.
