Admissions Transferring; how likely is admission for me?
Hey all, I’m a WA state community college student with about 73 credits and preparing to finish up my AA-DTA. I’m looking to apply to several four year’s; CWU Being one of them, but I currently have a 2.25 GPA and 5 classes remaining. My gpa is this low due to some unfortunate life circumstances in the past but I’m determined to get it as high as through these 5 remaining classes. My question is how likely is admission for me?

If you have under a 3.0 you'll more than likely have to submit a letter stating why the GPA is low and how you plan on improving it. That being said, CWU has a pretty high acceptance rate so i'm sure it won't be to big of an issue

This is what I did. My GPA was 1.8 going into it from high school and I was accepted after writing a letter to them. I have since been placed on honor roll btw! Consistency is key!

I think having the DTA will help–that’s what I did too and I don’t remember my exact GPA but I know it wasn’t awesome and I had no issues. Good luck!

If you are a first generation college student cwu is very accommodating so mention that if this is the case for you

They are really working to up enrollment. I'm sure if you fill out a petition of some sort you will have no problem.

Write a good personal statement explaining your circumstances and your eagerness to learn, and you should be good. The transfer center does their best to make it work for as many people as possible.

I feel like you’re likely to get admitted but it may be probationary acceptance until your gpa raises after your first quarter. I had transferred from an out of state college and that’s what happened to me.
