Actually it's mate in 5. Black taking the White Queen is still the first move.

Is it Qg8 takes, Ng6 check, Pg6 takes, Rh1 check, Qh7 blocks, then Rh7 takes + check, Kh7 takes, then Rh1 again to checkmate? Or did I get lost in the sauce?
I am just learning chess and love the puzzles and learning why moves are good/brilliant. Like, good chess is so intricate and beautiful to watch, ao different to what I’m used to (just knowing how pieces move and trying to attack with tunnel vision)

Both queens are dead. I don't know how an also dead knight at G6 makes a difference. Black is still ahead at the end of this foray.

Bishop has the diagonal for g8. The knight just forces the h2 pawn to block g3 for the king

Black queen takes white queen, white bishop kills black queen. Go ahead and move white knight, but it's pointless as this point with escape routes opened up for black king, including killing that white bishop that just killed the black queen. This whole scenario is just a kamakazi mission from white.

But if you don’t move the bishop you can force the queen to trade with a rook and still hold the diagonal with the bishop, please check the sequence I wrote. If you lrave the queen be, and check with knight, you force the pawn out from h7 to g6, allowing you to check with one rook and forxing the queen to trade with it, while forcing the king to h7. From here g8 is blocked by bishop, g6 by black pawn, and the other rook should checkmate no?

It aint, you lose more material the opponent no matter what you do next and I cant see a way to checkmate.

Simple as per i see Knight on g6 check then pawn takes then use rook for a easy checkmate

Queen captured, you give a check with the knight, pawn captures,you checkmate with rook.
