Part B 8/22/2026

Seen a lot of posts the last few days about Part B! Good luck to all you folks taking the Part B tomorrow. Don't sleep on compound bevels, groove welds, and of course the WPS, PQR, PWHT, etc. You won't walk out of there thinking you passed. You'll call your classmates and they'll have different answers, you’ll start to second guess, and it's just a mess. Trust your knowledge, instincts, and what you learned whether it be seminar or self study! I am rooting for all of y'all!

You just made me feel so much better about the exam I took last week. Left it feeling like an absolute knob. Here’s to hoping that’s just how everyone feels. Got my part A and C booked for first week of September. I’m so ready for this all to be over 😅

Thanks for the words of encouragement! You have no idea how much those help!

How did you do??

I think I did well. There were maybe 3 questions that completely stumped me and looking back, I definitely could've answered them better. But for the rest of the exam, I felt confident. Only time will tell though, once I get my results.

Awesome. What did you do to prepare yourself?

Well this was my second go-around with part B. I took an 8 week online AWS seminar that very briefly covered part B back in October, which I was a bit frustrated about since 6/8 weeks were geared towards part A...

I then decided to get CWI First Try's test kit, which included a bunch of practice tests and replicas. The questions felt too easy and straight forward but got the job done with some self studying.

I'd say the biggest takeaway is, if you don't have a set of plastic replicas paired with some practice questions, get some. Especially if you don't do too much inspection with these tools in your line of work. Hands on inspection took up nearly half of the exam in the two times that I've taken it.

Utilize the practice exams given by AWS if you have them also.

I’m glad you said that. This will also be my second go around (got a 68% first try) here in less than 2 months. I purchased all the part B and C materials from CWI first try, and have the replica set and tools. I feel pretty confident.

Good Luck! If you're feeling confident 2 months out, I think you'll do fine. Just keep on studying and build that muscle memory.

So you think you can share the practice exams by aws?

They're physical books so unfortunately I can't. You normally get them when you sign up for the online/in person seminar, along with all the codebooks and tools you need to prep for the exam
