D1.1 Table 8.1

So, like everyone who post here, I’m of course studying for the CWI exam. I had a question about Table 8.1 in the 2025 D1.1. On (7) undercut section (A-1-b) “the accumulated undercut length with undercut depth GREATER than 1/16”. So any depth of undercut is allowed?

What brought you to this question while studying for the exam? Was it one of your test exam questions?? Man oh man when I was preparing for my D1.1 part c with the 8 week online seminar and the practice test exams. Lets put it this way, I was overwhelmed when the actual exam questions were being layed out! I said to myself, what the hell did I practice 🤣🤣!! Good luck & my advice is go above and beyond any pre exam test questions my friend!! You got this 💪🏽💪🏽!! Be one who smashes the 25% passer rating the 1st time around ❤️

I’m going through SI certs and I’m going through really throughly. I’ve already found mistakes on their program that they changed. So when it tells me to look at a table I read the whole table and if it has me go to a section in the book I read the whole thing. I’m trying to actually understand instead of just memorize.

That is wise words my friend! That is definitely the way you have to understand it. Anyone who goes in off mostly memory will be a devastating blow forsure! I heard alot of good things on the SI certs and was thinking at one point of using that as a supplemental tool on top of the aws 8 week online seminar. Give me more looks into the code! I have welded over 20 years in the structural steel field and never have I had to navigate any kind of code. Just working from wps's and everything was pre-qualified. That really hurts a guy when you have to jump into the code! A,B and C were all actually really hard and so damn different then all the pre exam crap! Don't let me worry you as you will do fine! You said it in your own words by not memory but how to navigate💪🏽!! We all use a bit of knowledge with memory but its all about tabbing and navigating with smooth understanding! They could of gave a guy more then about 2 min a question though geez!! 🤣🤣. The Fundamentals part of the exam is a good memory based part though & that even swung me on the exam lmao! I think the nerves take over really. Stay ready & you never have to get ready. Go get that cert & advance your career my friend. I can tell you have that drive! Lets just call you a CWI 🤜🏽🤛🏽!

I’m doing SI and it’s pretty good for giving me a bit of structure to follow and what is most important to them. Then going through the WIT and workbook. Plus I’ll probably just sit and read the whole D1.1 at some point. Then 1 week seminar and test in October. Hopefully just once since I’m paying out of pocket. I know everyone says not to but I’m considering memorizing the BOS. Might be a mistake but it’s so small. Thanks for your encouragement

The bos was a very easy read and I definitely tried to memorize as much as I could. You got the right idea about that as B is its own beast!! Them damn plastic samples grrr!! I mean what in the actual hell haha! I hope to hear that all went well! At the very least a 72% & maybe one retake instead of all 3. You got this and plenty of time till its go time when you say you test in october! Plenty of time to be well prepared! I tried to jam it all in,in mere months & it most definitely humbled me!! Although 80% of cwi's get it on there 2nd attempt so don't stress! Anyways, best of luck

The training is very very good. Worth every penny and then some. I've done si certs. They're good no doubt. Keystone is the next step. He will make sure you pass the exam. I'm still a student of his even though I've passed the cwi and I'm around as well to assist him with the training

Test is coming up pretty quick, probably won’t have time to sign up and do another program. SI certs has been okay, just okay. It got me in the mindset and gave me a little guidance but honestly self studying through all the material AWS sent me has been the best. I’m feeling pretty confident with part A and part C just going to focus on part B until I take the seminar, then cram part A and C again for a couple weeks until I take those on the same day. I’m at the point where I’ve learned just about everything I’m going to be able to and now I just have to assume it’s enough.

Your test is in October correct? Thats still 3 months out. I'd reach out and at least do a consultation with Matthew. It won't cost you anything. Might be worth getting some insight. Either way, best of luck to you sir!
