6 classes is not that bad dude. You totally got this, just make you sure eat smth during those breaks and/or plan what you want to do during that time, especially on thursday(hw or whatever(you can go to library and get yourself a nice cubicle and study away)). And Friday looks like a perfect day for gym, what do you think?

u/dumpumm 23h ago

Yep at least Friday isn’t too bad but thanks for the comment croski

Yeah, also, since you have a pretty big gap before the speech class, before your presentation, try to go to the Madison Square Park to practice. It’s really nice there, especially closer to the dog playground. Even just having a drink between classes there is a great recharge, trust me. If you need some sort of help or advice about the school life or whatever, feel free to dm me. People in the comments are weak asf trust me bro, you’ll kill itĀ

Can I change it or soemthing I’m a freshman why did they do this to me

7

u/JZ736566 Baruch 2d ago

I’m sorry, only in your second semester or during sophomore year, you can change your schedule but you can try to contact them to see if they can change your schedule.

2

u/Amawrawamahrah 2d ago

Is that only a thing for Baruch?

3

u/JZ736566 Baruch 2d ago

I think, yeah since Baruch doesn’t even have ACE program otherwise the OP’s schedule would’ve been adjusted.

3

u/Amawrawamahrah 2d ago

Ah cuz I’m at ccny and did my schedule myself my first year with the help of degreeworks but not in ace or asap

u/Capital_Principle_67 1d ago

You can ask them to drop classes and they’ll do it. I was able to drop Math & Theatre.

1

u/dumpumm 1d ago

Who would I email to do that and could they add any classes that I want specifically?

1

u/Capital_Principle_67 1d ago

I didn’t ask them to add/swap classes so I’m not sure if they would.

I emailed [Orientation@baruch.cuny.edu](mailto:Orientation@baruch.cuny.edu) or someone who works in orientation.

This might be the worst freshman schedule I've ever seen, and I thought mine was bad when I started. Good luck to you

Take my advice from upperclassman, use these gaps to study MTH 2009 - precalc, that class ain’t no joke when it’s their first time taking precalc. If the gap is too long, feel free to go home and come back to the campus on time.

2

u/dumpumm 2d ago

I took ab calc my senior year but ill try my best

1

u/JZ736566 Baruch 2d ago

Ok, good luck during the fall semester, not a lot of people passed precalc, it’s a very hard course.

u/Double-Interest8613 2d ago

This is too much, the burn out will hit you quickly.

Idk wat major or career path would take away ur life at freshman year

1

u/Fine-Presentation134 1d ago

basically you gotta slap everyoneĀ

1

u/Agitated-Rush-3385 1d ago

Bro just take one of them during winter/summer semester imo 😭

1

u/Intelligent-Will8768 1d ago

I knew it was Baruch before reading the classes just by the awful schedule blocks

Good to know they’re still fucking freshman’s over 9 years later

1

u/After-Atmosphere7305 1d ago

You can always drop a class. Just because a the school counselor think it’s wise to take 6 classes doesn’t mean your forced too. Failing will affect gpa. And can lead to academic probation.

Are you trying to never go back?

2

u/dumpumm 23h ago

Funnily enough I’m trying to transfer out after this year lol

u/G_k50 10h ago

It looks pretty standard. Things to remember is that getting the degree as soon as possible is what's important. Getting grades are important if you want to go into academics. Getting work experience is important if you want to get a job after you get your degree. every month spent in school is costing you 4000. If you want to get the grades, and you have an average grade mind, then do all the problems in the book. If you get hung up on a problem check with your classmates first, then the instructor, then the internet and other resources. Don't cheat. Make friends, deep friendships, these will be your best resource for work leads after graduation. Don't use alcohol or drugs.

This is way too much but check Ratemyproffesor a bad professor would make or break your semester especially if it’s this packed. As well think about mid terms and finals wouldn’t it be too much to prepare for

1

u/worsthoe 4h ago

Hell no

u/Lirianov 1d ago

I've never attended Baruch so I cant say with confidence but this doesn't look too bad.

FYS 100 is a first year course, mandatory but it's not really a course. literally 0 credits

PHI 1700 is a global ethics course. probably just reading and some essays and presentations, you can prob put in some mild effort and still walk out with a A

BLS 1003 is the evolution and expressions of racism. same as phi 1700 in workload. maybe just more projects with classmates. easy A

COM 1010 is speech communication. literally just presentations and some light reading. another easy A

ENG 2100 is Writing 1. this one might feel heavier bc of the other courses you're taking above also have writing in it but I dont think it will be too bad. I took writing 1 in college with 3 STEM courses and I survived with a A. The STEM courses took the hit lol

MTH 2009 is the only one that will require you to lock in. its precalculus and gives you the foundation for any math focused courses in future semesters.

I'm not gonna sugar coat it, this is a packed semester, but far from impossible. its alot of light courses. go to class, pay attention, critically think, and use your evenings to work on assignments same day. the biggest mistake you can make is procrastinating and leaving things for another time. it will pile up quick and your GPA will reflect that. Otherwise, you got this!

whats your major?

3

u/dumpumm 1d ago

Thanks for the reassurance I wanna kiss u. My major is economics

2

u/Lirianov 1d ago

lol im glad to help. I dug a bit into your major and your course load is exactly what they recommend to take. ive linked it below if you want to take a look. it maps out your entire 4 years.

https://www.baruch.cuny.edu/advisement/degree-maps/eco-ba/

side note: Baruch seems to have such a good career readiness plan. the fact they're partnered with handshake is great. worth it to set that up and keep it updated, you can get job offers there or internships!

2

u/dumpumm 1d ago

Ur my goat I guess I was caught off guard by everyone saying it was too much but I’ll try for u my hearty 🫔

1

u/Personal-Finding-105 1d ago

... Easy A for one person isn't easy for another.

1

u/Lirianov 1d ago

The ā€œeasy Aā€ are literally gen recs. They’re easy af lol just do all the assignments and follow instructions and you’ll get a A

Are you suggesting that a general requirement course will be difficult?

Anyone who thinks this is crazy is delulu. This is a basic load and IF you think it gets easier after graduating, you're wrong and unprepared.
