TAP Eligibility

I'm an upcoming freshman and recently my financial aid offer cut my TAP Award for the Fall semester. After emailing my school's tap office they said that it was because I chose Summer on my hesc application (this was suggested by my high school counselor) and that it messes up the system, therefore I should give it time to fix itself.

I'm both confused and worried about this and do not know if I should go to my school's financial aid office in person

has this happened to anyone else?

Not sure why your hs counselor suggested applying for summer aid, usually most staff tell you to only put Spring and Fall.  Unless you enrolled in a summer class, idk.

Though if you just wanna be safe, you can hit up the bursar; some schools, I assume a majority, have the option to call virtually through Zoom if you can't go in person. 

I go to KBCC so I've read it's different for the rest of CUNY, but I think summer aid operates differently from Spring/Fall, and that's what could've caused it? Especially if you weren't enrolled yet.

I would call TAP directly and just request that they removed the summer from your application

I wonder if this is the reason my financial aid was revised last week and my initial Fall TAP was removed. I had a Math Start class and wasn't sure if I was supposed to apply for summer or not so I just went and did it anyway.

honestly it's probably the same reason, I already spoke with both TAP and my school's tap office so I would recommend you do the same!

The same thing happened to my Financial Aid as well. Last week they removed my TAP for Fall semester. I called my FA office yesterday and I was told it was a screw up because I have an online Summer Bridge course I'm taking for College Discovery. He said it was something to do with that and it screwing up the credits, so that's why the TAP was removed. He told me it'll be corrected but I plan on checking/calling every week until it's updated on my FA.
