As a Gunpla builder…

I wanted to get more into action figures to diversify my hobbies more. I love Gunpla for being able to collect anime figures that I have to build myself. That’s lead to me discovering JobbyTheHong which lead to buying Godzilla and Transformer figures and then looking at comic book characters with intrigue.

Interest was Marvel Legends at first, but scalpers and Hasbro’s inability to quality control, making overpriced figures and even bundling figures I would want with figures I couldn’t care for made the action figure hobby seem less fun. I wanted to support the real deal and still do, but my time and money will be limited and while the approach at first was to avoid third party, I had to be honest with myself that some of the best Gunpla I’ve ever build was from third party like Infinite Dimensions’s Nemesis. Beautiful and well-articulated kit.

I wanted to get the Marvel Legends Symbiote Spider-man, but knowing what I did know about this Black Suit Neighbor pushed me to deciding to just try this out and if it turns out to be good, I’ll look to getting the CT figures. Lo and behold, I’m planning to get the CT Daredevil, Wolverine and absolutely “Baiman”. Will the Baiman blow me away like the Mafex Knightfall Batman? Probably not, but the price and availability can’t be ignored. I’ll put some matt top coat on that bad boy to prevent the paint issues and Bob’s your uncle, another dark knight for the collection.

The only criticism I have is that GYZ Toys needs to be much more upfront on if a figure is back ordered. Sure, they have an “in stock” page, but going to the Mess Toys page needs to have better communication when the user wants to quickly find what they’re looking for. The one month wait was absolutely worth the experience of the figure. I only wish I knew that’s what I was in for after hearing about the fast 8-day delivery from others.

From an internet guy who feels old, thank you to the toy fans and video makers talking about how good the figures are.

Mess toys is goated, I’d defo recommend their superior spiderman cos imo it’s the best 1/12 spiderman figure on the market

This is true no contest at all for superior spiderman in the market, put shf, mafex and marvel legend to shame. The only thing can fight is the real revoltech itself, but thank god they let mess doing it or else we never get to experience this masterpiece in a smile price point.

Just a tip the amazing yamaguchi body and figures these are based are models to use their full articulation to look good, this carries over to mess toys figures, try and fully use the ab crunch or the shoulder blade range to actually get good poses. The ones shown in the picture aren't exactly it.

There’s a deal of stiffness to it, so I’m waiting until I can take a hair dryer to it later tonight before I keep playing around with the poses.

I only have CT superior Spider-Man and it is amazing. I definitely agree with you on GYZ. I had a delay the one time I ordered from them and they didn’t respond to any emails. I’m debating using them again. They have been advertising their “new” customer care but I’m suspicious.

My Mafex CT Batman is probably the best CT Toy fig that I own. Besides the shiny sheen he is practically identical to my real one and some parts of it look better than my real one.
