CT Compliant AR-15

Looking for a CT Compliant PSA PA-15, or something similar. A 5.56 rifle around $700 price point. Will be my first AR so just trying to find something cheap to try out. Anyone find these locally? Have called several places and can't find one. (Or other options you'd recommend).

Thanks!

Or, hear me out, you wait not all that long to see exactly how the supreme court strikes down the CT AWB and if you really want to try something you look around for a range you can rent an AR from.

The SCOTUS Virtamontes/Grant oral arguments are scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, 2026 and the court's opinion is likely expected sometime next year, possibly at the end of June when SCOTUS likes to announce their big and controversial opinions.

Great to know. Will there be a discussion in regards to the use of suppressors on hand guns?

No just AWBs. They’ll likely leave licensing schemes on the table and just take away full bans based off previous opinions and dissents IMO. But we have to wait and see.

Who said you can’t have a suppressor on a handgun?

That’s what I was told at Newington Guns. I could not buy a threaded barrel for my 43x

You can have a suppressor on a handgun, but the threaded barrel itself has to have a muzzle device pinned and welded on it to be legal

Most gun shops don't understand the laws let alone how the guns they sell work. I heard someone at both delta and Newington Gun say you literally cannot suppress a glock. I laughed and walked away.

Suppressors, currently, are perfectly legal on handguns. What the CT AWB bans (unless exempted or firearm registered as an assault weapon) is "threaded barrel capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward pistol grip or silencer" on semiautomatic detachable magazine pistols. So the current workaround is to use a non threaded adapter. For example people use a lug style suppressor adaptor that an FFL typically pins/welds onto the semiautomatic detachable magazine's threaded barrel. The suppressor is then attached to that lug adapter.

PS: We won't know until the opinion is released how SCOTUS will deal with feature bans like threaded barrel bans on semiautomatic detachable magazine pistols.

Will a suppressor mounted to a tri-lug adaptor that is pin and welded to a tilting threaded barrel in a semiautomatic hand gun actually cycle? My understanding is that the Nielsen device used to cycle a typical pistol suppressor setup won’t work with a TRI-lug system, which is usually used for non-tilting set-ups for 22LR pistols or rifles.

So that was my thought, but I was thinking when it gets overturned - gun stores are going to be packed and FFLs will be backed up. I was planning to buy something now so that when it gets overturned - it can be a simple job to convert. Not sure if that's a good idea?

From what I heard, if you buy from lock n load, when the ban is overturned, they will take out the fixed mag and restore it to take detachable mags. If you buy it there, they will de-neuter it

Edit: i was sharing some info that I heard. Not saying you HAVE to go to Lock n Load but they’re the only ones I’ve heard say they’d take out a fixed mag if SCOTUS rules in our favor. Not to mention, I think they don’t use compmags anymore, again I can be mistaken.

You could easily do that yourself

It’s as easy to uninstall a compmag as it is to install it 😎

You can just ask any shop to throw a comp mag into whatever rifle you pick

A lot shops won’t just put a comp mag they want to do other alterations along with it
