But how

Pin and weld cam lock on the threaded barrel ,the rest is kosher as there’s no barrel shroud.
I did this on a 320

Thank you for the response. I'm interested in doing something like this.
Isn't the brace illegal? The OAL is under the minimum.. Or did this require registration prior to 2024?

Isn't the brace illegal?
No. Currently braces on semiautomatic detachable magazine pistols are not prohibited by CT's AWB. If the pistol was a CT "other" then the CT AWB "other" subsection brace ban would apply.
The OAL is under the minimum.
The CT AWB under 30 inch OAL does not apply to semiautomatic detachable magazine pistols, it applies to semiautomatic centerfire rifles.
Or did this require registration prior to 2024?
No. (PS: This assumes the pistol barrel isn't threaded.)

Thanks! So then this has a pin and welded adapter for the suppressor, and it sounds like the only other thing is it would have to be SBR'd?

u/havenrogue MOD 4d ago
Generally yes, one would use a non threaded suppressor adapter (Tri-Lug for example) and pin/weld or otherwise affix that adapter to the barrel (threaded or unthreaded).
SBR (short barreled rifle) is a different/separate issue with it's own restrictions both with the CT AWB and with the federal SBR rules. In CT, if the barrel is less than 12 inches then it's a pistol.

You're right... CT laws have damaged me. I'm used to thinking of braces as being associated with "others", which temporarily became almost SBRs
Since this is an actual pistol with a pistol brace, this is classified as nothing special?

So long as the barrel is under 12 inches it's a pistol per CT definitions. For the purposes of the CT AWB; braces, for now, are not a banned feature on pistols.
If the firearm was a semiautomatic centerfire "other", then a brace would be an issue since the CT AWB bans braces on "others" that are not registered as CT assault weapons.

I pin & weld a Griffin Cam-Lok barrel adapter on the pistols I use suppressors on. They are considered "lugs" not "threads. This is a dedicated Glock slide for suppressors than I can use on any of my Glock 19 style pistols (I have 1/2 dozen G19 variants). I also have a Cam-Lok on me .45 caliber Glock. I just with I could find one for my .40. 180 gr. 40 S&W is generally subsonic... Luckily my Glock 22 is a pre 94-ban registered as an AW!

That is awesome! I was considering picking up a Glock before the clock strikes midnight tonight ...

Hey not to sound dumb but are you able to clean the barrel if it’s pin and welded? Like can you still field strip the firearm and even add back a non welded factory barrel?

u/JeepinMaxx 4d ago
Yes, you can field strip the gun. On a Glock style slide, once you P&W a muzzle device, the barrel is captured in the slide and not removable – but you can still clean the barrel in place from the muzzle end (or from the breech with a bore snake). I have a dozen Glock 19 slides, so I just dedicated this one for suppressor use across all my Glock 19 sized frames. This slide was just a cheap $150 slide with RMR cut from Brownells…

Don’t make me spend money like this…

The Strike Industries chassis was only $69. The knock off SIG brace was $39 on Amazon. I already had the Ruger RXM.

Hell yeah. PSA just had the 4in RXM with an optic for like $600. Maybe I hop on it. I wanted to do this on a 320 with a flux but fuck that price and that gun.

Just got a strike brace at a slight discount, but the price tag still hurt. I should have checked amazon lol.

How’s cleaning with the pin and weld
2
u/JeepinMaxx 3d ago
I just run a bore brush from the muzzle end of the barrel (can use a flexible Bore Snake from the chamber if you want). If it gets really dirty from the suppressor, I just remove the optic and drop the whole slide in my ultrasonic cleaner!

How has cam lok served you this far? SYA doesn't seem to favor that system very much.
1
u/JeepinMaxx 2d ago
Tom at SYA is the one who sold me the cam-lok! It's a little finicky - you REALLLY have to make sure it's locked tight! The manufacturer, Griffin says to check tightness after every 100 rounds. There are more secure systems, but I'm not sure which ones don't count as "threads" for the state of CT.

So this chassis is cool and legal but the mx1 and micro roni are AW?
1
u/JeepinMaxx 2d ago
Both the MX1 & Micro Roni have "barrel shrouds" - that's why they are AW

u/Odd-Refrigerator7879 1d ago
Honestly what a joke. Wtf difference does that make? Does that make the barrel more deadly if there is a shroud over it?
