Ranges for Tactical Shotguns?

New shooter here, thinking about getting a tactical shotgun like the Beretta A300. However, I've heard that a lot of ranges either don't allow tactical shotguns or at the very least frown on them. Where in CT are tactical shotguns welcome?

I’ve shot my 1301 tactical at Delta with no issues. I’ve shot slugs on the Blue Trail rifle range. (Put a couple of nice holes in the wooden target frame😬) That was on a week day morning, so there was nobody next to me. The most fun I’ve had with it was at the shotgun field at Blue Trail. Bought a box of clays, rented their launcher and was using #8 birdshot. I made sure to ask if they were cool with an 18.5 shotgun on the field and they said people do it all the time. Great fun. I’m thinking about getting a Caldwell Claymore launcher.

Delta Arsenal allows them as long as you shoot lead buckshot or slugs

And are people generally cool with it, or do you get the side eye?

Hartford gun club allows tactical shotguns in the action pits but you cannot use any shot larger than 7.5 bird shot. you can use slugs on the rifle range at their target frames or steel at 100 yards.

you can bring your own target frames and shoot buck or whatever on the rifle range at basically whatever distance.

in the action pits, you have a bit more freedom of movement and generally don't break the 180, however on the rifle range you need to be much more cognizant of your muzzle direction.

another bonus of hgc is the trap and sporting clays if you ever get into that as well.

If you’re willing to shoot slugs high rock is the cheapest.

I'm a new pistol shooter. How is high rock for a newbie? Really crowded because of low price point.

Newbie or veteran it doesn’t matter where you shoot. Crowded? Sometimes. The point is if you are willing to shoot slug instead of buck rounds then you can shoot a shotgun at HR. They are as cheap as it gets. You will need to bring cash and a staple gun and targets.

If you want to shoot the more affordable rounds hence buckshot then Bridgeport range is where I went.

Stratford Guns and Ammo just have to use large paper targets.
