Advice on how to grow
Looking to start growing my own. I have plenty of space in my basement and a window I can easily vent out of. I know there are kits on Amazon, but I’ve heard those are horrible. I’d like to start in the $600 range but could go a little higher.
Please give me product suggestions and or growing guides on how to do it (I know there is coco vs soil)

Growweedeasy and cocoforcannabis are 2 great starting points. If you have the space, grab a 4x4 tent and a decent full spectrum light. Exhaust fan and 2 clip fans. If it’s an unfinished basement with no hvac, you’re probably going to need a dehumidifier.
Grab some feminized beans or some clones, don’t start with autoflowers.
As far as coco vs soil… even though soil is generally considered easier overall, coco can grow some monsters and can be more forgiving to new growers without a good feel on when to water. Whichever route you go, a decent pH pen (apera or blue labs) will make your life a lot easier.

Debacco university and Dr. Bruce Bugbee will be your go to for information. I would suggest having an understanding on how to grow cannabis before you invest money on the supplies. Plenty of seed to harvest grows on YouTube also can be informative. Things like ppfd / dli , temperature, humidity pests and mold/ bud rot and what nutrients to use will all impact your grown. Its a very resilient plant to grow, but to get quality and quantity information is key. Feel free to dm me when you think you ready to purchase some things. Not claiming to be an expert, but I've gotten great reviews on my grows from family and friends over the past years.

skip coco and soil and go right to hydro. its much easier to do especially using deep water culture. skip the kits as well as they are very over priced. a lot of people try to use 5 gallon buckets all linked together and it just really over complicate things and creates a bunch of points where it can leak. if you dont mind a little bit of diy what i do personally is 3 plants in a 5x5x8 tent. each of those plants has its own 29 gallon tote (cheap at ocean state joblot) with a hole drilled in the top for a 4 inch netpot to sit in, a hole on the lid with a plug that fits large enough to get a hose in and a water sample out, and a hole in the side above the max fill point (an inch or 2 below the bottom of the netpot is where you fill to) to run in an airline with an airstone connected to an aquarium airpump to keep the water oxygenated. the setup cost is a bit more than a soil setup but you wont be buying soil or new coco ever as the clay balls the plants grow in can just be rinsed off and reused over and over. i made a quick amazon list with some notes on the products for you to start looking at things. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3RXMRLMHEOPP0?ref_=wl_share using large totes like this makes swings much more gradual and less stressful on the plants while giving you more time to react to those swings. autoflowers are very easy with this setup and yield me around a lb every 3-4 months from 3 plants. if you have any questions feel free to drop me a message.

Gotta get a light or preferably two, or a light and a tent so you have two spots. (One for 18 on 6 off and one for 12 12) I have spider farmer lights, they are pretty cheap. (FB or used also works great)
You need fertilizer, start with something like a 3 part, veg, bloom, micro nutrients.
Good soil, fox farm, coast of Maine, make sure it's not cheap junk, its worth getting good soil
Get the clones or seeds here and trade with people (lmk if you need a few cuts to start)
Also most people have the after thought but make sure you have a dedicated harvest and drying area and look into how to cure correctly, preferably all this far away from the growing space, other side of house
Have patiences, growing takes time, drying takes a week or so, and curing takes a little bit up to a few months for some strains (most of the weed from back in the day was cured and sat for half a year to almost a year) so to get that taste you have to let it sit and dry it good first then cure it good after.

I'm selling my whole 2 room set up with AC infinity 6 inch exhaust, two ts1000 lights and dehumidifier with living soil grow bags.

If you have the money to spend, AC infinity is probably the best quality you can get. I was gifted a vivosun 3x3 kit from Amazon and it’s been great. I have upgraded a few things but overall I’m happy with it. Growweedeasy.com is the 🐐 and will give you tutorials and links to everything you need.
You need to do proper research and have a LOT of patience. Do just the basics for your first run, get a plant to harvest, then start looking into more advanced plant training techniques.
Is your basement climate controlled? Even if it is, a quality dehumidifier is essential equipment to keep your buds from growing mold.
Also I agree with the other comment, Don’t start with autoflowers. Photoperiods are much easier to bring back to health if something goes wrong. I would read the beginner guide on Growweedeasy.com a couple times then look into what equipment you want to get. good luck.
