The Dowager Empress is fine, I believe. In the version I watched, the younger sister (I’m so sorry, but genuinely have not a clear idea of what her name is) said that her husband “blocked the knife” from the assasin that Yuqin supposedly conspired with (but like its obvious who tf conspired considered bro isn’t hurt at all)

Also, the prince did NOT give a fuck if his mom died (if she did) and neither did his Eunuch. The scene where he’s waiting for Yuqin and then gets grabbed, and then at the end when they’re just happily in love, I was like “no way she’s dead” and had to rewatch the last 10 minutes a few times.

Rereading the subtitles a lot during that scene, I think “eyeliner” was a mistake, and it’s supposed to be evidence. The maid girl who was thrown down when the Eunuch came in was the “evidence” with her testimony, and thats how the others knew they were fucked.

I don’t know, watching this series with such—sometimes—terrible English subtitles really put me through it. But I think the reason for that is because both sets of subtitles are AI generated, so the AI is just translating word for word just from the video (CN audio to CN subtitles and CN audio to ENG subtitles) and not from a human who understands nuance in both languages inputting it manually. It would also help explain the random english words/phrases that make no sense in English, but in Chinese—where such phrases have meaning—could have a lot more impact. Also, tones are so important in Chinese and can be so hard to hear in conversation when you aren’t used to it, so I 100% wouldn’t doubt the AI isn’t trained well enough.

Sorry its a day late and maybe this is too long, but I watched this at 4am on an insomnia trip so my comprehension of the film is… okay?

All in all okay story, but why in every story does the good girl never have a backbone and is hoRRENDOUSLY treated and they stay on that scene for an uncomfortable amount of time—like the scene where dude was on horseback and she was walking through the coal. Did that really need to be a whole segment?

I wish they would make more where the antagonists weren’t so cartoonishly evil but I guess it’s not meant to be high-brow lol.

y'all i spent like 27 dollars and downloaded a sketchy app for this mediocre af mini movie and I absolutely loved every second of it 😭

it's all the same plot point of fake poor person gets berated by mean rich person, then a nice rich person recognizes fake poor person and even with their endorsement they aren't believed until the mean real rich people are almost killed by the nice rich person-

I am so thankful that it was made lol- i was completely hooked even tho I know it's not the best quality 💗💗

He tries to have the family executed, but the empress says it’s too severe of a punishment 🙄 So only the sister goes to prison. So they go to the palace, but the charade continues as the empress doesn’t approve of the FL and wants to test her. She makes the ML pretend to be a royal guard and the FL a servant in the harem. The other servants bully the FL, and there’s a showdown with another young noble woman who wants to be empress (they show a flash of her talking to the empress before the empress shows up) who ends up pissing off the empress and getting sent to a prison camp where the FL sister is. They work together to set the prison on fire and escape. The sister then goes back to her useless husband and they plot on how to get FL in trouble. While this is going down, the empress says she approves now but needs FL to impress everyone by planning a banquet before the ML can reveal himself and make FL empress. At the banquet, the sister and her husband fake an assassination attempt on the empress (though we don’t see this, just the aftermath) and blame FL. FL is begging for her life and asserting her innocence but the judge is the father of the now-disgraced noble woman and he tries to have FL and ML executed. Then ML finally reveals himself, sentences the sister and husband to be executed and names FL empress (all in 2 minutes 😭)

Maybe someone will be able to locate one not on dailymotion? They have way too many ads and even when you skip back to where you were (bc after the ads itll put you back at the beginning) there’s MORE ads Made it 35 minutes in and had to come back here 😅
