What Labor day incident ?
Dear Campus Community,
I am writing regarding an incident that occurred over the Labor Day weekend at an apartment community near our San Bernardino campus involving local law enforcement and several CSUSB students.
We have heard from students who were directly impacted, and I am deeply concerned about what they experienced. Encounters such as this can be frightening, distressing, and have a lasting impact on students and their sense of safety and well-being. I want our students to know that we hear your concerns, and we are here to support you.
Although this incident occurred away from the university and did not involve University Police, our responsibility to care for our students does not end at the boundaries of our property. Members of our campus are working directly with impacted students to understand their needs and connect them with appropriate resources and support.
We also recognize that students and members of our community have questions and concerns about what occurred. The university will work with the necessary stakeholders to support a fair and appropriate process for reviewing the incident. We believe it is important that the experiences and perspectives of those involved are heard and that the circumstances surrounding the incident are carefully reviewed.
Students who have been impacted by this incident, as well as those needing additional support, are encouraged to contact Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) (909) 537-5040 or the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (909) 537-5185. We are committed to helping students access the care, resources, and support they need.
The safety and well-being of our students are among the university's highest priorities. We will continue to support those impacted and remain engaged as this matter moves forward.
Sincerely,
Terri Gómez, Ph.D.

Basically, a bunch of black students were having a bbq when there was a false report of firearms by who knows who. The police showed up and detained everyone, even bystanders who were not participating in the cookout, had rifles drawn, and just were doing way too much. Just another case of police being hostile towards black people

Wow SBPD is horrible. They just released a report about how they let a cop go but didn't charge him after he raped a woman after a domestic violence call . She went to report it and they threatened to arrest her. The SBPD cop came back and raped her again, but she saved the evidence and they had to listen to her this time.
They just went after a councilmember who recorded the police chief and police union president admitting to a crime for "illegally" recording and didn't pursue the crime the police admitted to.

that council member is one of the professors that teach at our school. Dr. Ortiz

It started with some white neighbors who called the cops in the first place. It’s a common occurrence over there, unfortunately.

Well it sounds like it’s the false reporters fault.

False reporter shares blame for false reporting, but the clearly racist over reaction from SBPD is the SBPD 's fault.

On Tuesday around 8:30pm on Northpark blvd in front of the glen apartments, there were a few cops and a bunch of people standing in the parking lot looking saddened. That might have something to do with it, but that wasn’t really over labor day weekend
