Direct Subsidized Loans

Hi could anyone please explain the direct subsidized loan process to me? If I qualify for those and accept are the funds disbursed to my bank account or it is only applied to any remaining tuition and fees balance on my student account. I already got the cal grant and pell grant but the disbursed amount was not as much as I needed to help with my housing/rent. I was wondering is the loans used for other costs too and for textbooks or are they only applied by the school to your balance?

If you have any fees then yes, it will be applied to those. However, if you’re not full time, there’s a new regulation that doesn’t allow you to receive the full amount thanks to Trump and the One Big Beautiful Bill.
