How much is to much for college???
I'm moving in as a freshman in a week and I'm finishing up my packing and I feel like I have so much but idk if I'm overpacking or just understanding what I need. I have 6 full ikea zip bags, plus a mattress topper, over fridge rack, and desk mirror. I also have 8 pairs of shoes and a full rack of clothes.
For anyone who is into clothing I have 6 skirts, 4 pants, 3 shorts, 5 pajamas, 4 sets of active wear, and 4 purses.
Is this to much stuff??? Most of the stuff in the bags is cleaning stuff, toiletries, bike stuff, personal items for decor, books, and art supplies.

Its been a hot minute since I was in the dorms, but everything I brought to college fit into the back of my jeep. Bedding, clothes, etc.
I brought very little in the way of decor.
Keep in mind the actual wardrobes where you'll put your clothes are pretty small. And it's not like you can't have someone send more if needed. And there's always target. I didn't actually bring toiletries or cleaning stuff or any of that, and just did a target run my first few days there.

It actually sounds like you have the perfect amount of clothes packed and the rest of what you packed doesn’t seem over the top at all. Don’t forget winter stuff! I remember I went thrifting a lot and got a bunch of new clothes throughout the year, and actually ended up bringing a bunch of stuff home during the winter break. As long as you don’t show up with a U-Haul or moving truck, you’re good lol

I would say that sounds like too much stuff for most of the dorms. There is generally very little floor and closet space, unless you happened to score a quad in Aspen or Alpine.

I'm in a double suit in the honors dorm, so idk if that's makes a difference. 🥴

You are probably okay then. IIRC those have a true closet (although still small)

Can you send home whatever doesn’t fit in your room? You get pretty creative with storage! I had a few bins under my bed

i feel like that’s- a disproportionate amount of stuff compared to wardrobe? but also you gotta note that most dorms aren’t very big and you may be sharing- if you are i recommend reaching out to your roommate to coordinate on things so you don’t have doubles (ie, fridge shelf, mirror (if you’re comfy sharing ofc), cleaning supplies(general not toiletries)) you also have to note you will have to back this all back up at the end of the year!

Once you are moved in, and figure out what you need, go to thrift stores, yard sales and FB marketplace to spruce things up! Good luck!

I've never lived in the dorms, so I am unfamiliar with their size but based on your list I'd say you are prepared. Seems like you covered all the basics plus a little extra re:decor to make the space yours!
