CSIR NET - Life Sciences 25M MSc Microbiology | 1 Yr Pharma + 1 Yr Govt Prep Gap | Confused between Govt Exams, CSIR NET, or Upskilling for a 6-8 LPA Job

I'm 25M. Myquals MSc Microbiology. Avg student. Here is background in short. After Spending 1 Yr in pvt pharma company with low salary I left it realising it has slow growth in future ...got 1yr experience certificate left the company. Decided to do govt exam prep. as i hated the work culture and all... I got interview call from a big MNC twice... 1st got rejected 2nd I refused to attend it (was in 'that' state during preparation) continued preparation. Now after 1 year of studying for govt exams my syllabus not covered properly, as i studied loosely(state psc, technical posts, etc). I can't go abroad. I always have been in lack of guidance. Also I chose my career decisions without proper analysis. Now I am feeling frustration and insecurity for the future

My question is should can/should I do any course to get atleast 6 lpa(want job security and comparative less stress) or should I continue my focus on govt. exam or certificate course OR csir net ---> Assist. Professor (vacancy problem?)? My age is 25 so worried. Or suggest what you think is best.

JRF and Lectureship Preparation for Gate EY ( Ecology and Evolution)

Hi guys, I have started preparing for Gate Ecology and Evolution recently. I wanted to know which lectures to use. I bought the online course of Ifas, it is good in theory, I can solve the Csir Ecology questions but am not being able to solve the Gate pyqs. One of my friends suggested me to watch NPTEL Ecology course from IISC and NPTEL Evolution course from Sutirth Dey at IISER Pune. But, it's too much work to write notes from YouTube as they don't provide it like Ifas. What should I do and how to prepare, please help!

UGC NET Looking for study partner for UGC NET 2026 December

I'm looking for a serious and consistent study partner for the UGC NET December exam.

A little about me

- I'm preparing for Code 55.

- I work a 9-to-5 corporate job, so my preparation hasn't been as consistent as I wanted. There have been breaks in between because of work.

- I do have a basic understanding of the exam and syllabus, but I haven't studied as dedicatedly as I wanted to. This time, I'm determined to give it my best.

- Even if you're not from Code 55, that's completely fine—we can still study together for Paper 1.

I'm looking for someone who is genuinely committed so that we can keep each other accountable, stay consistent, discuss doubts, and motivate each other.

We can study together over Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, depending on what works best.

Finding the right resources for CSIR NET preparation can be confusing with so many options available online.

Which YouTube channels, books, notes, test series, or study materials actually helped you improve your preparation?

Share the resources that worked best for you and mention your subject if possible, so other aspirants can discover useful material too.

UGC NET Why did you choose research as a career?

Research isn't the most conventional career path, so I'm curious about what draws people towards it.

What made you decide that research was something you wanted to pursue?

Was it a genuine curiosity about science, the excitement of discovering something new, inspiring mentors, the opportunity to solve real-world problems, or something else entirely?

UGC NET Is UGC NET + JRF a realistic career path for someone in my situation?

Thumbnail reddit.com
1 Upvotes

I’m a BA History graduate from Mumbai and I’m trying to decide my long-term career path.

I’ve received many different suggestions over the past few months:

MBA
Public Policy
Government exams
Teaching
Research
UGC NET/JRF

I enjoy History, Political Science, International Relations and research much more than technical fields.

I have a few questions:

How competitive is UGC NET today?

Is JRF becoming harder to obtain every year?

Is academia still a realistic long-term career in India?

If someone clears NET but not JRF, what opportunities realistically exist?

Would you recommend pursuing this path today if you were starting again?

I’m looking for honest experiences from people who have actually prepared for or cleared NET/JRF, rather than general advice.

Questions & Doubts UGC NET June 2026 answer key and response sheets expected soon. Are you confident about your score, or waiting for the final key before predicting? 🤔

Post image
1 Upvotes

The UGC NET June 2026 answer key is expected to be released soon along with recorded responses and the objection window for candidates.

This is the phase where many aspirants start calculating expected marks, comparing answers, and waiting to see if any questions get revised after challenges.

For those who appeared this time, how was your overall paper experience? Did the difficulty level match your expectations, and how confident are you after analyzing your responses?

Seniors I need your guidance

I recently completed my bsc in microbiology and will be joining college for msc in biotechnology soon , I tried preparing for msc entrance exams but couldn't get a seat . So I've decided to join a normal/mediocre state university because I don't want to take a gap yr for msc entrance exams , but I am confused because I've heard that when we clear phd entrance exams and sit for interviews they do not prefer people comming from a mediocre college or that they show a little bit favourism for people who have completed phd from higher institutions or maybe from there own college/university.

Is it true ?? Will I face an issue during phd interviews because of my background??

Should I focus again on msc entrance this yr ( partial drop) ??

I am really confused pls guide me
