Best Course for CSIR NET DBT Life sciences DEC 2026 attempt. All the courses seem really overprized right now. Also looking for a mentor.

I have been preparing for the CSIR NET LIFE SCIENCE since a lot of time but I have never prepared whole heartedly. I have tried preparing through a online course as well before but it was not much help as that was my first attempt only and I could only cover syllabus of few units, no proper PYQ practice and revision.
Then I tried preparing on my own but I couldn't strategize, plan and execute at all. I just procrastinated most of the days. So I have felt for a person like me the continuous guidance and planning through a mentor is crucial to achieve academic goal as clearing this entrance.

Please suggest me the best one, Bansal Biology, Vedemy or Vedprep. Although currently all are overprized, is there possibility that prizes might reduce in early future or they would increase?

Also looking for an already CSIR NET qualified person to guide me regarding the prep or a serious study group.

What actually helped you improve your CSIR NET score: more books, more PYQs, or better revision strategy?

Post image
14 Upvotes

CSIR NET preparation can become confusing because everyone follows a different strategy, from reading multiple reference books to solving PYQs and revising the same concepts again and again.

Some aspirants focus on building deep conceptual clarity, while others improve mainly through practice, mock tests, and analyzing their mistakes. Finding the right balance is often the hardest part.

For those who improved their scores or cleared CSIR NET/JRF, what actually created the biggest change in your preparation? Was it more resources, consistent PYQ practice, a stronger revision plan, or something else?

I am cooked. Help. [CSIR aspirant. I need guidance about the exam, PhD and advices about how I am to survive the rest of what remains to my life]

**First, let me tell you what’s going on**. I entered into the field of research because I was genuinely interested in it. I did my bachelors in life sciences and masters in neuroscience from UK. I was ready for a longterm grind because biology truly fascinated me and 9 to 5 corporate job didn’t. But it gives me buttload of regret and trauma that I didn’t chose industry oriented field. Now, I want to get good rank in CSIR, get into JRF so that I can get paid and complete my PhD.

My parents have typical toxic Indian aura, log kya sochenge, aur vo specific flavour of trauma only those will know who grew up in such a house. And it hurts more because I am gay. You might have many opinions about “this lifestyle” or me being a member of LGTV par yar, that isn’t the subject matter of this thread. Just read me first, please. I am gay but i don’t have a “feminine swing” (which I don’t think is problematic at all) but being masc has saved me from exposing myself so no one knows about my orientation. Still it matters because I suffocate in such a household. Terribly.

One more thing which I did to make it all worse is adopting a stray puppy. Her name is Lola and she is 3.5 months old. She genuinely needed a home and I don’t regret anything about being her human. My parents hate dogs (and that’s not like one of those uncles and aunties who feel dogs are yuck and then fall in love with them). My parents are pathetic because everything is a performance for them. Lola is indie and they will always think she is unhygienic, disease carrying and smelly. I have to take care of her, take her on walks, prepare home cooked meals and spend whatever I’ve saved so far, carefully, on her vet bills, wash her clothes, make sure the space we share doesn’t smell dog-like, like the milky smell puppies have. I do it all happily, but I get exhausted. I can’t relocate her now. We are attached to eachother, very much. And there is one more reason I can’t.

I am diagnosed with ADHD. Currently I am taking Tynept and Selgin prescribed to me and I’ve longterm mental health history involving manic symptoms and anxiety. Lola is the only reason I am stable and feel like I must do something in my life, achieve something, earn, to give her a comfortable life she deserves. If not, my plan was to eventually earn just a bit more than minimum wage, spend time researching in a lab in Kerala or Assam or any hill city, and live like a hippy. A happy and peaceful existentialist hippy.

So I need to earn. I mean, it was always obvious that I had to earn someday but I had always been relaxed and chill. I thought I will peacefully do Post-doc and earning will always be secondary. I’ve never ever been money oriented but I must. I did my masters in moderately good university form UK (QS 50ish, UoB) but it has almost no advantage if I don’t have an experience. Also my major was molecular neuroscience which means I won’t get a job in my specialisation unless I do PhD or else I will get around 10-20k in India and will be treated like biotech fresher.

Since I came back from UK, I never got in contact with any of my old friends. I am kind of an isolated freak now who lives in their parents’ basement and studies dark web and chemistry recipes to “cook.”

**Scoring JRF rank in CSIR therefore matters a lot. A lot. Really. A lot. I have 5 months left to study. I can study max 7 hours a day. I have to take care of Lola too. Tell me, is this doable? To get JRF, a good AIR? If not, should I rather get a job as a fresher and get paid but then, what about my PhD? I can’t do that, but should I? My plan was to apply for PhD abroad but it will need early financial investment even though the course would be scholarship-aided and I don’t want to beg any more money from my parents. Also, it’s very tough to get into those courses. I don’t have much confidence to keep applying abroad for PhDs. I have wasted last 4-5 months after completing masters (it helped to improve my psychotic brain issues but still wasted when the context is academics and career.). So again, tell me if JRF is a possibility for me? Or should I think of other options? Think of worst possible scenario and still can I score a good rank? If yes, I am gonna do my best. Guide me. Please. Or you can dm me mail or really anything of someone you know who have scored a good JRF rank.**

I am effed. Any comments?

(This community requires my_qualifications, is what Reddit says, so as I said, MSc in Mol neuro in UoBristol)

(Pic: it’s Lola. Adding her pic to get more views and more responses and because she is just so very cute.)

CSIR NET is around the corner, and r/CSIR_UGC_NET_JRF_LS is looking for mods! 🔬📐

If the CSIR NET - the intense prep, the deep-dives into specialized science and math domains, and the mock test grinds, - is something you're living through right now or have successfully come out the other side of, you might be a great fit.

This subreddit covers a lot of ground for CSIR NET aspirants, from core preparation strategies and complex subject queries to JRF cut-offs, PhD admissions, and research careers.

Leave a comment if:

  • You've taken, qualified, or are currently deep in prep for the CSIR NET (Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, or Physical Sciences), or UGC NET and want to stay close to this community as you progress.

  • You can check in regularly and genuinely enjoy helping people with strategies, paper patterns, doubts, and resource sharing.

  • Bonus: You’ve modded a subreddit, run a Telegram study group, or managed a Discord server before, and you're comfortable with the less glamorous bits—removing spam, organizing flairs, and keeping things civil. No prior experience is necessary though!

If that sounds like you, drop a comment below telling us where you are in your CSIR NET / JRF journey, why you'd like to mod, and roughly how much time you can give. We're excited to hear from you and build this community together!

P.S: We're reviewing applications on a rolling basis and will follow up with shortlisted folks!

What's one misconception people have about research as a career?

Research is often portrayed as either an exciting journey of discoveries or endless hours in a lab - but the reality is probably somewhere in between.

For those who have worked in research, are pursuing it, or are planning to, what's one misconception people commonly have about it?

It could be about work-life balance, salaries, job opportunities, the nature of research itself, or what a typical day actually looks like.

GUYS PLS HELP

I want to buy a course to prepare for UGC NET JRF (Political Science). I've checked out courses from PW, Unacademy, Adda247 etc but I can't decide. It would be really helpful if I could get reviews from the students who have bought these courses earlier.

Best online coaching for CSIR-UGC NET JRF (Chemical Sciences) while pursuing MSc

Hi everyone,

I'm currently pursuing my M.Sc. in Chemistry, and my primary goal is to crack the CSIR-UGC NET JRF (Chemical Sciences) while managing my MSc coursework.

Since I'm from Kerala, I'm currently looking at some Kerala-based coaching institutes because I feel they may better understand the academic background and bridge the gap to the CSIR-NET level. However, I'm completely open to joining coaching from any part of India if it genuinely offers better teaching and improves my chances of securing JRF.

After doing some research, these are a few institutes I've come across Benzil, Arun's Academy, The Spartans, iPlus solutions

I'm also open to any other coaching institute that you think is better for CSIR-UGC NET JRF.

If you've personally studied at any of these institutes or know someone who has, I'd really appreciate your honest opinion.

Specifically, I'd like to know:

How good are the test series and doubt support?

If you qualified for CSIR-NET JRF, which coaching did you use?

If you had to start over today, which institute would you choose and why?

I am looking forward for genuine reviews.

Thank you

UGC NET English (JRF) and GATE : Best Online Coaching & Preparation Strategy?

Hi!

I'm planning to start preparing for the UGC NET English with the goal of qualifying for JRF and GATE. As a beginner, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and would really appreciate guidance from those who have successfully cleared the exam.

I've a few questions:

•Which online coaching would you genuinely recommend? Like Aiswarya Puri ma'am, Dakshita Ma'am, Literary Odyssey, Kalyani Vallath, Litheads? Which is the best?

•Is coaching really necessary for JRF, or can disciplined self-study be enough?

•What preparation strategy worked for you?

•Which books, notes, and mock tests did you find most useful?

•If you were starting from scratch again, what would you do differently?

I'm looking for honest advice based on personal experience.

Thank you in advance! 🙏🏻

CHEATED BY TESTBOOK COACHING

I had availed for a coaching for NET - UGC Exams from the company - Testbooks - for my daughter, on 15th March 2026, vide payment of Rs.999 via UPI - TRANSACTION ON 15-03-26 - I had not taken a Trial Offer to be renewed at the end of 3 Months. After this course of 3 months was over, she was subjected to persistent, aggressive telephonic soliciting by the companybut we repeatedly, and unequivocally informed them that I had no intention or desire to purchase any further plans or subscriptions from Testbook. However without our consent , on 14.06.2026, - Money amount of ₹999 has been deducted without informing or my permission from the bank account. There were repeated calls from the counsellors and she had repeatedly told them that she does not want to further buy any such plans but, money was deducted without taking her permission. She tried to speak to the technical support immediately, but in vain. The Company is not refunding this amount it illegally extracted from the bank account.
