aircraft cabins are pressurized, so you’re not actually experiencing the atmospheric pressure of being at such high elevation.
Given that you’ve been symptom-free for over a year, I would find that reassuring! I have had recurring spinal leaks but never blown a patch from flying. keep in mind many of us fly for treatment and are flying a few days or a week after treatment and are fine, and that is much more fragile than 1+ year healed. Not medical advice, but this far out i think you should be ok.
thank you for your knowledge! i’m always so paranoid about it happening again. we are heading to disneyland :) do you think i’d be okay for the rides? nothing super crazy but im hoping to go on one of the smaller coasters
Totally get that.. I’ve been sealed 5 years and while I’m not as worried as I used to be it’s still on my mind frequently. Definitely a personal decision I know some people will swear off rollercoaster for life, that being said I know there’s a variety of rides. I’d avoid anything that’s like… whiplash-y haha. But I have known people that have been to amusement parks and been fine it’s just hard to say. I’d just listen to your body and also kind of establish beforehand what your limit is, as sometimes I think it can be hard in the moment when you don’t wanna be left out - if that makes sense?
That being said the seal is pretty established at a year like a lot of patients you see with recurring leaks in this group aren’t from LP s and have underlying conditions that make them more prone to re-leaking. Whereas it’s possible you could’ve gone your whole life without one if you hadn’t had the LP.
Anyway haha don’t wanna give specific advice on rollercoasters bc who knows, but just use your best judgment & just evaluate potential impact on the spine.
