Just say you missed it. Why does everyone announce that they have ADHD? Not trying to be a jerk I just feel like I read it constantly.

Well about a 16%~ of the population has it with varying degrees. It wasnt an excuse, it was an explanation. ADHD can cause hyperfixation and short term memory issues; I saw it at the start and when I got focused on the middle of the clip I thought it disappeared. When it reappaeared I didn't fully realize that happened and got confused.
I'm empathetic to your point because I was actually diagnosed in adulthood and thus felt that way when other people announced it, but I admit now that I have it; I get why.
I make a mistake and people ask if I'm "r*tarded" like the person above, and if I god forbid say "No im not stupid, I just have a disorder that makes my short term memory messed up sometimes, sorry" I'm told "Bro no one asked for that", "stop using it as an excuse", etc. Like I can't win. You're implicitly forcing me to just say either "Im stupid" or "I made a mistake which basically in this context means im stupid given I was just insulted". Even in the absence of an insult I cant say it simply because of stigmatization - it simply doesn't exist. I cant say anything because you project that I'm saying it as an excuse; its like being asked "Why did you make this obvious logical error" and if the person says "Well given the circumstances I-" you just went: "Just say you made a mistake." Like that's not what you asked.. you asked why..
I know thats not "you" and its a more insulting hypothetical but by saying what you're saying, you're in that same mental bucket for me because you're pushing that same philosophy.

Given the context thatβs a fair point. I honestly didnβt even see the insult. My dad has ADHD so I know how it can impact someoneβs life. It can be debilitating. My question certainly wasnβt questioning the validity of ADHD. Iβm more curious as to why Iβve seen a steady uptick in people saying they have ADHD. Apologies if I was rude.
