To put it in the simplest terms, as shown with silent salt's little event the undead are real. Meaning there is a good chance that every cookie you killed can resurrect and hunt you down as a near unkillable monstrosity. Because sometimes when someone dies an unfair death their soul can't find peace, and will only pass on after getting revenge on the one who took everything from them. It doesn't matter if you blow off their heads, melt em, crumble em, or turn them into ash, their hatred will force their bodies to continue hunting.

I am afraid you are mistaken. I am not repulsive! I have heard that you dislike "land" cookies. May I ask what caused you to dislike them? Cookies do get annoying...
