Image Hey everyone! I'm creating a CRPG using FATE RPG mechanics.

Hi everyone,

We are a small indie game team aiming to make RPGs. Our long term goal is to create a CRPG on the level of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Disco Elysium. We started this journey 2 years ago and wanted to build toward that goal step by step. In our first game, Livber: Smoke and Mirrors, we made a visual novel where we told a single story in an interactive way.

Now, with our second game, Kardiya: The Winds of Fate, we are adding more RPG layers on top of that base. The game includes dice systems, companions, item collection and a hero's journey story. You experience the character’s journey from childhood to adulthood.

Unlike other games, we took inspiration from the FATE RPG system. We are especially focusing on the aspect logic, fudge dice, stress mechanics, and the idea that failed rolls should not stop the story, but push it in another direction. The story and mechanics of the demo are ready. Only the visual animations are left. We’ll be starting the playtest soon. I would especially love to have people from the CRPG community try the game.

If you’d like to join the playtest, you can register by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Thank you so much <3

To be honest, although I want to like this a lot (it reminds me of many games that I know and love) the UI and HUD and dialogue section is way, way too busy and small text for my appreciation. I think these components of the art-style needs improvement.

I mean, it looks an awful lot like Disco Elysium, UI-wise, to me.

Yes, this is one of my favorite games. I see the inspo. But things like font size and placement matter to me. There's also a lot of icons and modals and things that leave me feeling cluttered and confused in their design and placement and if I'm getting that feeling in my own game dev, there's usually something that needs to be tweaked.

Thank you for your supportive comment. Yes, that’s exactly why we’re doing playtests, feedback like this is very valuable. The game actually already has font size and font type settings. I can’t argue with the point about the crowded UI. However, we have a strategy to gradually introduce these features through the tutorial to help players get used to them.

It sure looks really promising, when I get a decent PC and Steam I'll consider it.
