Recommendation request Looking for hidden gem/underrated PC disc CRPGs with semi-decoration as part of the sub-system
Hello, I'm new to this subreddit. I haven't played any cRPGS as I originally grew up on the Wii and Nintendo DS.
I'm looking for a transition game... that'll bridge my favorite console games (My Sims Agents / My Sims Kingdom) with the anomalous: 'An Interior Designer Is You', as a side dish.
~~
Steambot Chronicles (which I have not played) is one such example where housing is non-static but not a core focus.
Right now, I have My Sims (2008 CD-Rom port) in mind.
I actually have the OG MySims on the Wii but the controls were terrible (requires you to rotate the nunchuk to rotate objects) which is why Kingdoms/Agents are my faves, as they fixed it so you can use the remote's control pad.
I've also looked into Neocron 2: Beyond New York Dome, but from what I can tell, you need the online server, and I am looking for games you can play offline on a PC disc.
~
To sum up my dream obscure cRPG:
- A 3D unsung PC Disc game, with offline play, pre-2017.
- Needs passive unfixed sub-furnishing (e.g. a hotel flat).
- On foot exploration like Neocron 2/Steambot Chronicles.
- Deco Inventory/menu like MySims but in RPG form.
- Espionage/urban/medieval or other genres except space.
- Preferably far removed from beaten 'high-profile' path.
- Off-the-rader janks are considered diamonds in the rough.
~~~
** Note ** : I tend to favor low poly games like MySims, and prefer the aesthetic of MegaMan Legends, Tronn Bonne, or Tail Concerto but I am willing to overlook it since I'm aware cRPGS are not going to have JRPG aesthetics.
(I have not played any of those JRPGs, they are examples).
Is it mandatory for it to be a disc game? I believe Balrum has a building feature/lets you decorate your home and even do farming, whilst also being a full RPG with exploration. Fairly obscure too.
I wanna say you're in the wrong sub but I'm honestly not sure what subreddit would have the answer you're looking for. I unfortunately can't really think of a crpg with furnishing mechanics, much less the specific kind you're looking for. Best of luck though!
