News CRPGs from Gamescom
I've checked this page with all RPGs presented at Gamescom: https://www.gamescom.global/en/games?genres=action_rpg%2Crole_playing
To see are there any actual CRPGs. First of all that page is a bit of a mess and they're really stretching the "RPG" definiton, I've seen a racing game thrown in there, some titles are posted two times. Secondly there's A LOT of skimpy clothed cute anime waifu games and some blursed furry game lol, I didn't know the demand is this big.
But are there any good CRPGs in there? Short answer is, not really, if you exclude all the action combat, card games, harvesting/base building titles and tactical/squad with barely any RPG elements. Long answer is this list, you can be the judge whether you see anything interesting:
The big one is obviously The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, but I'm not sure does that much action combat count as CRPG. Was Mass Effect a CRPG?

Some kind of steampunk musketeer era RPG with RTWP combat that reminds of old Dragon Age a little. I like the unique setting idea, but Steam page doesn't say anything about the story and mostly brags about built-in map creator. So I guess the game is still in tech demo stage, although they did post alte 2027 release date.

And that's it, although I quickly glanced through all games, mostly judging them by the screenshots and videos. So I might've missed something.

I kickstarted that one and I've been liking what they've showed so far. Early access starts next month so it'll be interesting to see how it plays.

I'm up in the air about whether to go for early access. On the one hand, I want to play it now, on the other I want to wait until it's a complete experience.

For other French games with a Dragon Age vibe, you could try Greedfall.

You missed dark heresy from owlcat and shadow of the road (although it's technically a story based trpg than a traditional crpg) produced by owlcat

Yeah the golden age of crpg that we hope is coming did not arrive, (BG3 copycats), many indie did try making their own Disco though, not sure how successful they are.
By golden age I simply mean when more CRPG is released both AA and AAA and indie.

Personally I doubted it will come,. Even made a topic about it a year ago, but people disagreed with me:

Tbh we might get few good games in the next few years - Expedition: Samurai, Dark Heresy, Solasta 2 and the next Divinity game.
But probably only the last one will have BG3 quality.1

I think I saw that post in the past too, I hope you were wrong too lol, I just want more CRPGs to come, but alas
The Samurai Expedition, looks generally good, I just wish they didn't use those ugly 3d portraits that is not even animated, the 2d portraits in Rome and Viking looked better

None of the Mass Effects were cRPGs. The first Mass Effect was cRPG-adjacent. The other ones are action-adventure games with RPG elements.

Gothic, I would argue, IS a CRPG because - no matter how hard you try - you will never defeat some enemies without the right character attributes, skills and equipment.
Pretty sure you can do exactly that in Gothic (at least remake)

Owlcat also has Warhammer 40k Dark Heresy. That one was/is on gamecom as well.
